Background: I'm a live in nanny and my two sweet babies (my dogs, Guinevere and D'artagnon)  have been living at my dads house without me up in Maine.  :'( The family that I work for has a 10 year old dog who is really sweet and they really love, but he is too old to run anymore and the parents who are active runners, like to run with a dog. So they decided they need a second dog. At first, they were going to buy a puppy from a pet shop :'(. But they decided they didn't want to deal with house breaking a pup in their new home (secret relief). So then they were going to take in a  friends pit bull who is 2 years old. The friend says he cannot take care of the dog anymore and was going to give it to them, but now he is having second thoughts.

The town we live in has an absurd rule about only having two dogs per household. (its a hoity-floity, ritzy town and they have a lot of lame restrictions) So, for that reason and for the fact that I don't want to be too bold, I have not ventured to request my two dogs come down here.

BUT

Last night, I was hanging out with the parents and the mom said out of nowhere that she has noticed how depressed I am without my dogs (I basically have a shrine to them in my bed room and I cant help but mention them all the time) and that if their friends do decide to keep their pit bull, that I can bring my dogs down! If only for a trial, at first.  :D We are going to disregard the rule about 2 dogs, because, frankly, they own the house and the dogs are all indoor dogs, plus we are sort of in the rural part of town anyways. If one day, we get a knock at our door with somebody attempting to enforce the two dog rule, we will politely tell them the dogs came down for a visit and are returning to Maine in just three days. And then Guinevere and D'Artagnon will have to go back to live with my dad, but we don't think that would happen. (Our neighbor claims to have 8 dogs in his house but we have ever only seen one or two)

I'm so excited, I could piss my pants! I really hope that the friend decided to keep his dog. the reason he does not think he can take care of her is because she does not get enough exercise. Maybe I can offer to start walking her during the day when he is at work. :P
