Battle of the Cookbooks!

Last month I got an Amazon gift certificate for my birthday and was wondering which cookbook to get.  I have Vegan Planet and Veganomicon, and would like some "simpler" books to round out the collection.

I'm trying to decide between Eat, Drink & Be Vegan and Vegan with a Vengeance.

Any recommendations one way or the other... or for anything else?

The Joy of Vegan Baking! It's just baking, but has breads, desserts, muffins, etc. I wouldn't use "simple" to describe it..but the recipes are not very difficult...and there is a lot of variation.  ;)b

*blushes* I should have mentioned that I already have The Joy of Vegan Baking... I haven't made very much from it except for the Mediterranean Olive Loaf.  :)>>>

Thanks for the recommendation, Saskia, I'll definitely look it up.

Vegan with a Vengeance. 100%

The Sarah Kramer books are pretty simple, too.
The Garden of Vegan
La Dolce Vegan
How It All Vegan

Vegan Express by Nava Atlas is another book that you may want to consider if you're looking for "simpler."  .  I've recently purchased this one, as well as Eat, Drink & Be Vegan and The Joy of Vegan Baking.  Of course, Vegan with a Vengeance is a fantastic choice, also.  I think if just depends what you're looking for.  I usually go to Borders and check out what I can there; it's helpful even if you plan on purchasing elsewhere.

I've gotten many recommendations for Nava Atlas recently.  I'm trying to decide between Vegan Express and Vegetarian Soups for All Seasons.

I have her soups book (the vegan edition, i think all the newer ones are now vegan) and its fantastic. i absolutely have loved every recipe I've tried. she has a really good Thai one that uses coconut milk and its just delicious. and they're separated by season which is helpful and I'm pretty sure she has nutritional info too which is always appreciated. go for the soups:)

i also reccomend Mediterranean vegan kitchen by Donna Klein because it has great veggie based recipes, none of them use faux meats or cheeses or anything of that sort. just all really good, natural ingredients. the recipes also vary in difficulty and time needed to prepare so you can choose what you're in the mood for and what fits your time.

I second the Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen. Simple enough ingredients, nothing too fancy, but all tasty. Unless you happen to hate tomatoes, bread, rice, olives, potatoes, basil and garlic. Then no.  :)

This seriously made my day.

Why didn't I think of this earlier?  Thanks, owalkerjillo and faunablues!
