Show me your cookbooks..........

I'm curious what your cookbook collection looks like, even if it's only one or two, how you arrange them, how you store them. Take a picture and post it here.
I have a relatively long kitchen and I've been putting them within reach, but away from where I cook, on the counter. I usually keep authors together but there's no rhyme or reason to how they are arranged, other than the taller/fatter books are to the left.

I have mine on a desk/table in the corner of the dining room, right by the kitchen. Some day I want to get a baker's rack, or something for them. We actually don't yet have any bookcases in this apt., so lots of book are just arranged..around.
I have my vegan books in the front, and some vegetarian ones in back, with some others. I still have a ton left in the closet at my parents' house.
I have mine arranged (kind of) by most used and/or size, then by authors, and publication date within books of same author(s). : ) I just received How it all Vegan! today.

i have mine in my coffee table, with my more frequent use ones closer to the kitchen (right side). Viva Vegan is missing 'cause it's in use =)

I think most of them are under the couch!

I'm just usually on the couch when I'm looking through them, so I just end up putting them on the floor and Andy ends up pushing them out of his way, under the couch....I have a big basket that is supposed to hold them, but its filled with other books right now....it also lives under the couch....perhaps I'll photograph it tonight so you can see that I'm not a total slob....

mine would probably be stacked up by the couch were it not for the storage thingy in the coffee table.

I wish I had one of those coffee tables with drawers! That would be so convenient!

This is my Front Room's book shelf with 1 shelf full of cookbooks, only 2 are omni leftovers and one is a huge binder of printed VW, blog and Vegan Feast Newsletter recipes. Of course there is a shelf right next to all this that looks more like this....

Haha. Most of mine are under the bed.
mine are currently all of the southern coast of Australia.
I really don't know where I'll be storing them when they get here.
I used to have them on an old shelving unit in the spare room, but that got binned because it fell apart. Even though we have lots of counter space in our kitchen I don't want them using up counter space, because I have already got enough stuff on the counters.
Our window shelves are big enough to put books on so I don't know what I'll do. Something for me to think about over the next few weeks.

fb, I have the same coffee table! amy, I like how yours go from big to small.
my cookbook collection is tiny right now. I used to actually have a shelf with a bunch of cookbooks but I couldn't bring all of them with me to germany because they're heavy! so i have about 6 now.
I can't spare the counter space; so mine live in the bottom of my china cabinet. Not all are vegan. Some of them were my mother-in-law's. Many were gifts. I don't use most of them...

Amy, we both have that giant encyclopedia! I like to peruse it, but I've never tried any of the recipes. Have you?
I haven't either... It has a lot of good info though... It was my Dad's and he let me have it :)
But to tell you guys the truth I hardly have used any of my cookbooks... The recipes always seem so involved and time consuming that I just end up always going to vegweb for ideas
I have that idiot's guide to veganism, too. hehe. it was actually pretty good. I used to have a bunch of vegan (noncook) books, but someone borrowed them, and wouldn't give them back. :( It was so weird. It makes me so sad to think about.

I don't know why I am so lazy when it comes to really reading anything... Well come to think of it, I just finish college and the last thing I feel like doing is reading a book to tell you the truth... Hopefully that feeling ends sometime soon
So jealous of everyone's collections! I have 6, I think. Boooo. They're all over the place: on top of the dog crate, on the coffee table, kind of stacked on a shelf, in the kitchen. Basically, 1-2 books per location!
Amy, you're off to a good start, most of your collection is pretty recent. You do seem to use online sources more in your cooking because you're the Queen of VegWeb reviews.......
