2010 meet up location poll (preliminary!)

Let's talk about it! Europe sounds amazing, but I don't know how feasible that is, for us.

I like the idea of Chicago, Portland, NYC, or maybe Austin. I'm pretty open at this juncture.

eta: I can't decide b/w Portland and Chicago! I voted for Portland..I want to know who else did!

Ok, Ok, OK, Ok..you all get that I want Portland, but I just found out THERE'S A VEGAN MINI MALL!!!! What?! VEGAN MINI MALL

Thats preety sweet! I guess I can start saving now...how far is portland from NH? lol

I dunno, it just doesnt seem fair to have the first meet up in San Fran and the second in Portland.  I know that both cities rock, trust me I know!  But for those in Florida or New England dont ya think thats a bit unfair?  I know I would not be able to make a meet up on the west coast next year.  No matter how much time I have to save.  Its simply not possible.

That's why we have a poll, and that's why we're discussing. Like I said, I don't think we're all going to be able to agree on a place that we all think we can make it (to). So, I dunno. I can't even really think about it at the present time.

A poll isn't necessarily the fairest either--we might just have a little more west coasters, period.  Doesn't mean we should have it on the west coast every year.

Hey, I'm not the be all end all decider, or anything. I just made the poll to get ideas.

Maybe we should re-poll using the top choices - Portland, Chicago, whatever else there was, etc.

maybe we could do 2 diifferent places?

We should re-poll using East, West, and Middle, if we are going to do another poll.  But I still don't think that's fair.  If there are fewer of us, east coasters will never win!

Plus, knowing what happened last time, 9/10 of the people who voted aren't coming.  West coasters, that ship sailed already!

maybe we could do 2 diifferent places?

I would be happy to organize an east coast one!   Or even a middle one.

Are you East coasters happy with Chicago? That's middleish.

eta: how about a poll like-

East (NYC)
West (Portland)
Middle (Chicago)

I don't know how good at organizing I am, but I would definitely help with a Chicago meet-up.

depending on my funds next summer, I really would love to do Portland, but I would be into doing an east coast too if I could drive there or get there cheaply

i want to re-vote for asheville, nc.

buuut this is my thoughts:
1.) i always thought there were more east coasters than west on vegweb (of the frequent posters).
2.) i think two is a good idea, but then the people at each respective one don't get to meet and then we have to choose and stuff and then we get all distraught (i would).
3.) we might as well just switch it around every year. this year was middle west coast.. next year SE? nest year middle? next year NE.. and so on.

i have no idea if i can afford an east coast trip next august, either, but i still think it's fair and hopefully i will be able to plan it if it happens.

I could drive to asheville so I would definitely go there

Asheville is awesome.  I would totally camp instead of paying to stay in a hotel. :)>>>

then i would totally crash L2As house for a shower...if needed

i <3 asheville. we have 3 vegwebbers that live there and others in the immediate area, like you two... then there is also the georgia and FL people that are pretty close. the only thing that i think might not be good is that i don't think the airport is very big (aka, expensive to fly into/out of) one. so if we did it in a location like that people who needed to fly would probably have to figure out a lot of extra stuff.

Asheville people, which airport do you usually use?  There must be a major one that's still close?  If it's not too far then maybe people could pick people up, or take the bus.

i think Raleigh is the closest major one.

Charlotte and Greenville/Spartanburg are closer than Raleigh...L2A would know better though.
