Do certains months or days of the week work better for anyone?  Saturdays work best for DH and I.  I'd like to wait until the weather cools down a little bit more - maybe Oct?

I don't know my way around DC or B'more very well, so I'm a bit reliant on suggestions of others.  I know some places in the 'burbs, though.

Awwww hell yeah! I've been a Washingtonian for almost 10 years now, so I know the places in the city and the surrounding areas. I don't know B'more that well, but I will go wherever vegwebbers are!

Some places to consider:
Great Sage in Clarksville, MD
Berwyn Cafe in College Park, MD
Java Green in downtown DC
My favorite restaurant ever, Vegetate in DC
Pizzeria Paradiso in G'town/Dupont Circle-- they serve FYH cheese and the pizza is VERY TASTY

I know at least MDvegan has been to some of these places already, but there are a couple of ideas. Not sure if she'll be able to swing it with her busy school schedule, but I'll PM feelinsoreal as well, since she just moved to town. Yeeeeee!

YOU KNOW IT! You are going to have to take some time out of your busy schedule to come down to DC, but I will most definitely make it my business to come up to you as well.

P.S. I had to google Ledo's to see where they are located, and one is coming to DC soon! AND I just saw they opened one up in McHenry at the lake, MDvegan! Woooohooooo!

P.P.S. But let's not plan it the 20th of September (I will be in NYC) or the 27th... If you are really jonesing for my company on the 27th, you will just have to drag yourself to my Bollywood-theme birthday party, to which you are now officially invited. :) Send me a PM or a wave hello and I'll hit you with the details.

OMG, that sounds so awesome!

Just an idea, I live in Front Royal, VA (which is about an hour from DC), home of Shenandoah National Park, which is absolutely gorgeous in the fall.  I know some awesome less traveled trails that lead to good lookouts, and they don't take too long to climb to (about an hour 1 way).

AND there's a Ledo's in Front Royal.

GreenT, my parents are in Del@plane, not too far from you. I love it out there, don't you?? Definitely still some time for good hiking before the weather gets chilly!

YES!!  I wish I could work around where I live instead of treking to the city every day.  Maybe someday...

Front Royal is only about two hours from my house, so that would work, too.  One of the advantages of DC for me is that our only vegan option at home is Taco del Mar.  Of course, I'm more interested in meeting other VWers that I am eating in a vegan restaurant.  Anyway, Tony gets her feeding tube out Tuesday, so I'm in.

If we do it in DC, would any of our Philly friends come?  That's only a couple of hours, too, right?

Also I have an IRL L/O friend who lives in the area interested in tagging along, ok?

I'm up for wherever! Will definitely trek to meet vegwebbers.

As I mentioned, my Bollywood party is this Saturday night, so probably going to be busy putting together vegan samosas and whatnot during the day. :> But if Sunday works for everyone, then I will leave what will undoubtedly be a huge party mess for a few hours and make that work. Other than that, I don't have a lot of commitments yet for October. Shall we set a date?

Of course a L/O friend is welcome!

This weekend is no good for me; nor is Oct. 4.  Other than that, I think I'm pretty free.  I would also prefer Saturdays, though.  Of course your friend would be welcome mdvegan!  I know you've mentioned Mango Grove in Columbia before.  I've never been there.  There's also The Yabba Pot in Baltimore.  Also never been there, but I've had their food.

We have to set a date for this to make it happen!  Any suggestions?  The rest of October is pretty booked for me, but November is open except for Thanksgiving weekend.  Of course we could always go into '09 to avoid the holiday months altogether...

OT- I was reading an old issue of VegNews today (the "modern love" one).  MD vegan, is that your quote in there about not having kids to leave room for rescue cats?  Actually, from the context clues, I think it HAS to be your quote- I don't know how many other vegans with 8 cats live in Maryland!

Wow, I haven't been on vegweb for at least a year.  It was always fairly dead on the forum and I was only using the website for recipes.  It's good to see you ladies are planning get-togethers.  Does anyone belong to VSDC?  They are having a vegan singles Halloween potluck in East Falls Church on the 25th.

My favorite vegan (or) vegan-friendly restaurants in the metro area are:

Yuan Fu Vegetarian, Gaithersburg, MD

Nirvana, DC

Java Green, DC

Busboys and Poets, Shirlington, VA

Asylum, DC

Asylum does an awesome vegan brunch on Sat and Sun from 11 to 5 pm.  It is right in Adams Morgan.  Busboys and Poets has atmosphere and vegan calzones - need I say more.
Java Green is a little pricey, but the food and environmentally friendly attitude is invigorating.
Nirvana is run by a sweet married couple and all items are veggie and they help you find the vegan items.  Yuan Fu has the best vegan Asian food I've ever had.  They are Taiwanese and their term of "strict vegetarian" means vegan but also no garlic, no onion, no leeks, etc..

So I know you all are talking like old friends, but is it okay if I consider joining your get-together?

Of course!!  There are no firm plans or date set yet.

Everyone should come!

Trueveggie - Do you like Yuan Fu better than The Vegetable Garden?  When I'm in Rockville I always think about Yuan Fu but end up back at the Vegetable Garden because it's so good.

Pic I took of friends at Shenandoah National Park...did I mention how beautiful it is in the fall?  :)

Of course, of course!! So who wants to take the helm and be organizer? Maybe the first or third weekend of November? (The second is out for me.)

I guess I could if there is interest in coming to Front Royal!  I propose Saturday, November 1st.  This date might conflict with some Halloween party hangovers from the previous night- let me know if this is a problem.  We could meet early afternoon, go to the park for some hiking/sightseeing on Skyline Drive, then head back into town for dinner.

I would plan for a later date but I'm just trying to keep the weather in mind.  Plus the leaves should be peaking around that weekend.

Thoughts??
