You all know where Lost Pines State Park is?  That is close to Austin, but is between here and Austin...I think.  I went there one time and really liked it.

My Dad was in the CCC.  His company worked near Lamesa, not sure what they did there, though.

I'll check with DH, I'd love to go to this!

I decided to move the part of the post from the "Where are we all from" thread in Chit Chat to here:

This is a good idea, I've been wanting to contact my fellow Texans to see if any of us want to meet up at the Kerrville Folk Festival and have a Camp Vegetaria. http://www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com/festival_info.htm. It's May 22-June 8 this year which seems earlier than it has been the past two years.  I think I could make us a flag or a banner.  If you've ever gone to the Festival, you know that there are a lot of folks who form camps with their friends.  Kerrville  FF is the safest, happiest place/time in the world.  If you've never attended it and you could possibly make it, you should!  Of course, if you're from out of state and can make it, you should too!

My DH also teaches, as you know.  The first year we went to Kerrville, he was so stressed out.  We got there kinda late in the day because everyone was trying to input their grades in the system and it was moving like frozen molasses.  Once we set up our tent, dragged out our camp chairs, he let a great sign of relief and told me later that all the stress just melted away!  The schedule of performers for the festival hadn't been posted last time I checked, but we'll probably go the 2nd weekend, May 30, 31, and June 1.  If you can leave from the Festival site on the 1st, I think you'd really enjoy going for those three days.  Let me know and we'll try to save you and your BF a space with us!  Be sure and bring instruments (excluding drums) with you because some of the best music happens at impromptu jam sessions at the camps!  You also can't bring pets or stereos, boom boxes, etc.  Only live music allowed.  I'm getting really jazzed up about it.  Even with the torrential rain last year and the heat the year before, we always have a lot of fun!

I just checked the availability of camp sites for March 28-29.  http://www.reserveamerica.com/campsiteSearch.do

None are available.  It's a bit far to drive there and then drive back for us the same day.  I haven't checked on hotels but I'd really rather not stay in a hotel to go to a State Park and campground!  So I guess DH and I are not going to attend after all.  :'(
