Western CT Potluck - October 4, 2008

Who would be interested in coming to my house for a potluck? Danbury CT is easily reachable via car off of I84, Metro North Train and even Amtrak.
The date is October 4th and anyone is welcome from 10am till 10pm (or later if prior arrangements have been made, like a pup tent!).
My kitchen is not huge but I have enough entertainment area that even if it rains we can still have quite a crowd.

Well, I hope everyone nearby can come! It doesnt need to be at any specific time or for any specific length of time. I will probably just have food available all day and night anyways. haha

i think it is awesome vegan foodstuffs. potluck parties are hella random. but its all vegan, so HAI!

I have yet to think up a theme or menu yet. I think that people bringing what they love would be great. Or we could do a trip around the world in food if we have enough people coming.
I am hoping the Boston Crew can make it even though it is 3 hours.
I love that idea! A secret "Santa" type of thing! (and by Santa I mean St. Vegan, of course.....) It could be something really small and silly too. Nothing fancy.

Oh man, an Unbirthday vegan gift exchange party. That is fabulous!

Gifts are to be under $15. Vegan is a requirement! Handmade gets extra cupcakes or scoops of soy cream.
When people arrive they will get a number. The presents will be numbered randomly and given out before cupcakes and soy cream.

Everyone brings a present, you make numbers for how many presents/people you have, everyone draws, then #1 picks a present, opens it, #2 can pick a present or take #1s..and so on. We had a rule that a gift could only be taken three times. So, if you had taken the good gift from someone,and you were the third to take it....yay! (not that they all won't be good...)

This will make me feel grossly inadequate. Whoever gets mine will take their present and LIKE IT.
While the gift snatching is always fun I think an UnBirthday deserves permanent presents. You get a number and draw your gift from the pile.
I think a small monetary limit is a good idea because its already expensive enough to buy vegan goodies and drive all the way out to BFE Connecticut.
Think of things that can be found cheaply, either from yard sales, Good Will, Salvation Army and the like. Heck, pick something you have around the house and gift that! Make some artwork or sculpture from clay or heck even rocks or twigs. Have fun! Food is definitely acceptable but it needs to be be packaged so people do not feel obligated to open it up there and share with the crowd. On your unbday you do NOT have to share with the whole party! I promise.
I have an idea of what I want to gift, now I just need time and patience to actually do it. haha
