Western CT Potluck - October 4, 2008

Who would be interested in coming to my house for a potluck? Danbury CT is easily reachable via car off of I84, Metro North Train and even Amtrak.
The date is October 4th and anyone is welcome from 10am till 10pm (or later if prior arrangements have been made, like a pup tent!).
My kitchen is not huge but I have enough entertainment area that even if it rains we can still have quite a crowd.

Thanks a lot for the invite Cali. I realized I won't realistically be able to leave Boston til after 6 PM Saturday and 160 miles is too long a drive to make alone at night.
Hope some of you can make it up to Boston for the Vegetarian Food Festival on Nov 1st! Cali, Celtkat, dinkfeet, and JW502 (that's me!) met there last year. It was fun.

Guys...I'm so sorry I haven't responded earlier. We just bought a house and I had no computer access for 2 weeks.
I can't come this weekend! :'( I want to come but I feel terrible. I got sick and I hurt my back from the move.
But the bright side is maybe in the spring I can be a host now that I have a house.
Sorry Cali for the short cancellation...I never usually do that.

Ok, I have a slightly silly question. Does anyone coming to the party drink alcohol? If so what could I get that would please you? I have wine, hard apple cider, a variety of hard liquor and some beer with lime.

Come Nov 1st for the Veg Food Fest! Glad to hear Cali is driving up a carload.
CeltKat mentioned there is also a Boston Urban Ceilidh that night at Club Passim in the Veggie Planet building. Here's the YouTube of the last time we went. Good times :) I'm in the white shirt with black stripes, CeltKat is in the light green short-sleeved shirt. Most of us were complete beginners, it was fun to learn.

Well, I wasn't gonna drink, but today was a terrible, terrible, awful, horrible, suckilicious day. So I might have to change "wasn't gonna drink" to "will drink copiously."

I'm excited for you all.
the degree to which i am pissed can not be easily quantified in words right now.....
while Id really LIKE to get into it.....I'm almost too annoyed to find the words,
So....I asked for vacation a few weeks ago- to come to this....and someone "forgot" to find a babysitter. So when they asked the babysitter this after noon- the sitter said no. (let it be noted i reminded them again several days ago)
What does that mean for zealia???? It means that instead of catching a ride with the delightful KMK (and presumably splitting the cost of gas) and sharing a great time with all you guys from lunch till sometime after breakfast when KMK and I decided to leave...I have to leave here around 11:30 in the morning....and then leave the potluck in time to be back here by 11/12 at night. Because the backup backup babysitter doesn't want to watch the kids Sunday morning.
My gas tank is on E and I have 20 dollars to my name....so, I have to put said 20 smackers into my gas tank and hope and pray i have enough gas to get to and from our little get-together. (I'm positive Ill make it but- it sounds so much more dramatic that way...)
And the part I'm actually most annoyed about (okay and this is admittedly funny despite how mad i am right now) is that i wont get to eat the breakfast McVegans. :P
I suppose i should pretend to be optimistic right now and say...."well, its not ideal, but at least i get to go...."
Oh Zealia! I promise to make the Tofu McVegans early so you can take one 'to go' with you! Plus a box full of goodies!
I know they probably dont mean to take advantage of you but ugh, they are! You asked for time off, you gave them notice and they failed. It should be their responsibility to find coverage. sheesh! The drive is about 70 miles from Hartford Airport to Danbury. So it should be ok gas-wise I hope!

is it really TRUE that you live like 5 miles from trader joes? i'm freakin' excited. OMG. stockup trip. i'm out of like everything cool from there.
now, to pack. RC and i made the meatzballs and those will be great. i'm gonna pack mac'n'cheeze stuff cause i can't remember who was going to make that (KMK and i talked about it and Z wants some - wait, who doesn't want some?!). i also have beets and kale to bring that DR won't eat. you know, for our veg fix.
don't get too excited about TJs...the CT TJ don't sell booze...which is, of course, the best part of Trader Joes...
Yeah for the Tofu McVegans (I really appreciate that Cali!) and Yeah for Mac-n-cheeze!!!! and just yaya!!!!!! :D I'm so excited...staying up late baking and cooking,
I'm bringing the potato topped lentil bake I mentioned and ....a suprise. ;)

1) Make my food
2) Put together my gift
3) Clean up the mess I call an apartment so it isn't a dump when I come back.
So I'll try to get there by early afternoon? 2-sh?
