Dip for my Artichokes

I just decided to become vegan five days ago after making a vegan fettuccini alfredo that was posted on here. ;D
I am pretty comfortable with the switch, the only thing is,
I have been eating artichokes with mayonaise ever since I can remember. It was a staple of my childhood. I would hate to have to replace my artichoke dipping sauce with something I didn't like as much and thus ruin my favorite food.
Any suggestions?

I grew up with margarine as my dipping sauce for artichokes-- you could try Earth Balance and see if you like it.  I sometimes mix in a splash of lemon juice to give it the tartness that mayo brings to the party.  I also like artichokes with thin hummus or with tahini with garlic, water and lemon mixed in... but then, I REALLY like artichokes and I'd eat them with just about anything.

Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with using a vegan mayonnaise!  Mmmm!  If the subtle taste differences bother you, perhaps embellishing the "mayo" would ease your transition.  I just started adding a teensy splash of tamari and some grated ginger to it, after my mom told me that mayo and tamari made a dipping sauce that tasted "a little like butterscotch."

Experiment and enjoy!

Let me start off by saying CONGRATULATIONS on your decision to become Vegan!!!! I prefer nayonaise to Veganaise for a Vegan mayo, and my fave is the Dijon nayonaise, I take a tbsp or 2 of the dijon nayonaise with a tbsp of finely minced onion or a 1/2 tsp of minced garlic and a drop or 2 of lemon juice OR vinegar and use it as a spread or dipping sauce for a variety of things. For a larger amount of dipping sauce w/o all the fat and calories, u might try the Tbsp or 2 of mayo + a few chunks of pureed tofu ( which pretty much takes on the flavor of what you pair it with)and experiment with your fave spices.

If you have ever eaten Greek food, and enjoy Tzatziki sauce, a Vegan version of it is AWESOME with artichokes, well ok, it's awesome with any veggie actually!

P.S. I forgot to add that Duckalucky is right about the Tahini and garlic and lemon juice, though I personally like it thicker so would leave out the water. But then again I think tahini goes with everything just like hummus!
