Is it my imagination that ice cream sandwiches are very addictive meaning it could be nothing or they do put something in it like cigarettes?
Now some people might say and laugh,"Yeah right startaurus blame the ice cream sandwiches and not your discipline ;D."
But I've seen this when I used to get tofutti cutties and with my daughter too. She adores ice cream sandwiches more than any ice cream.
Do you think any other food is very addictive? I think ketchup is very addictive to.
CHAH...
CUH...
LETT....
Uh chocolate. But then, it does contain a physically addictive substance, so I suppose it's not such a big surprise. I've drastically cut down on sugar and fat lately but when I decided to do this I had three BIG bags of vegan chocolate in the freezer. Ever read Lord of the Rings? Remember the parts where they talk about how just the knowledge of the Ring, the presence of it can slowly eat at your mind, slowly and steadily eroding your will, constantly calling out to you to take it when you know that's WRONG, except you start to rationalize and make it sound right?
...yeah.
HAHAHAHA cephi!!
ACTUALLY........
If you're not using organic ketchup it probably has high fructose corn syrup in it and YES it IS addictive...
Let me put it this way:
If sugar is cocaine.
HFCS is CRACK.
Withdrawal causes headaches and everything! It's a very, very concentrated form of sugar and it's in EVERYTHING! And it's not good for you.
Check your ingredient labels for it!
Tofutti Ice Cream (and the cuties, i think) also has it in it!! :o
So you are probably right!!
Hot Sauce.
Over the past few months, I've gone from a few conservative sprinkles of tabasco sauce to liberal shakes...occasionally adding a few extra sprinkles. My nose may be running, my eyes watering - but it hurts so good!
Trying to cut down. I'm sure it can't be good for my tastebuds. :-\
Plus, when my husband returns, I'm sure I'll hear a few protests. Ooh, sensitive hubby's tastey-buds ::)
I go through a bottle of Trader Joe's red pepper sauce a week. I've also been known to eat curry paste (the red and green varieties) out of the glass jar.
Curry paste? Crap. I wish you hadn't said that. It had never occured to me to just take a spoon and eat the stuff.
Now I'm going to have to try that.
I'm addicted to peperoncini. Oh, I so love those things.
eek, i love the way you stated it! i loved the lord of the rings. it's the same way with any yummy junk food. i tell myself that i won't eat it for a long time and then i end up eating the majority of it in one day. oh god, like today. i binge ate and never purged and now i'm sooooooo paranoid and my stomach feels horrible. :( i guess now i'll just have to exercise unconditionally...
prettyin_punk if you ever want to talk... I'm here... And believe me I know exactly how you feel...

Actually on another thread here
http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=15071.msg95662#msg95662 about cheese it came out that diary products contain chemicals that the body finds addictive.
Also, chocolate has caffine which in itself is addictive. That's why DiverDi got headaches from quiting cola cold turkey. It literally was caffine withdrawal. :P (the fake sugar and other chemicals don't help your body either.)

you know, I always thought I was addicted to cheese...then i learned about this thing called a quezomorphine...or something like that. Its in cheese and your brain actually can become addicted to it. When I went vegan I had to give up cheese cold turkey. Even when I slip up and eat something I shouldn't...I wont touch cheese because I know once I start I wont be able to stop...
of Geeze. popcorn though...Ill eat popcorn so much my mouth and lips HURT. My body starts to beg "please stop eating that, please stop..." and I just silence it with another fist full of popcorn... ;D
I'm addicted to Kale. I dream about the stuff!
OHHHHH so I am NOT alone in this????
I am currently having trouble with raw spinach with tomato and mushrooms cut up over the top of a gigantic plate of the spinach, with whatever vegan dressing I happen to have (trouble because I can't stop eating it). I have had to cut out the Boca chicken patty diced over this, but I still love the rest. Three...umm four times a day is about right.
ohhh and beans, beans, BEANS! I dream of eating beans most nights and it always some way I have never tried beans. BBQ beans, baked beans, Tabasco beans, creamed beans, kidney bean sandwich filling, bean and asparagus soup, bean salads, pizza beans...it is pretty bad.

mm...beeeeans... :o I'm an addict. I have jars and jars..I love the variety, and that they are so darned versatile.
I'm addicted to anything sweet, but especially sweet and creamy. Ice cream sandwiches fall into that category, but plain old ice cream (in this case Purely Decadent) is my fave.
Pesto. I make a batch a week using Isa's recipe. I put it on everything. Recently I discovered how good it is on warm corn muffins. Mixed into crumbled tofu it makes a perfect ricotta replacement. A dollop in tomato soup, spread on a warm bagel, mashed into a baked potato, yum! :)
