mildewy kale?

Kale is usually pretty wet when I buy it, so I have to use a plastic produce bag (I use reusable cloth bags for everything else).  It usually takes me about a week to use the whole bag, and by the end of the week it has a mildew smell to it.  I rinse and eat it anyway, but you know how hard it can be to rinse kale well!  Does any one else have this problem?  Or, how do you store your kale in the fridge if not in a plastic bag?
