nutritional yeast query

i am wondering whether the US version of nutritional yeast is the same as ours here in NZ.  the yeast i use consists of flakes - similar in appearance to a crumbled Cadbury chocolate Flake bar and they are yellowy-brown colour.

I've never seen a Flake bar, but our nutritional yeast is the color you describe. My container of yeast says "Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Yeast...grown on molasses."

I always thought that nutritional yeast looked like yellow fish food flakes :P

http://www.foodsubs.com is a good website for learning about different types of foods, different names for those foods, and substitutions that can be used for those foods. There is one page on that site that explains all the different types of yeast, for example. :)

Thanks everyone.  I looked on the website recommended by Katica.  My yeast looks different to the nutritional yeast it features.  I shall simply need to experiment.  I would really like to try Dragonfly's Bulk Dry Uncheese Mix.  Such positive complimentary reviews.
