Organic Foods/Veggies

Looking for how some of you balance the cost of organics food & veggies. Are there certain products you are okay with from the regular grocery store?

What do you do for stocking a pantry with food in case of storms etc.

Look forward to ideas.

Thanks

Here is a list that might help:

I also try to buy organic citrus fruits and only organic peanuts (and peanut butter)  since they are heavily sprayed.

However, it is often not possible to get an organic alternative.  On that list, grapes, blueberries and strawberries are the foods  I will not make an exception for and won't buy them if I can't get them organic.

I also do not like to buy non-organic products if I am worried about GMOs, because GMO foods are not allowed to carry the organic label.  Corn is a particular concern and so corn-based cereals, corn chips, corn tortillas, etc.--all of those I try to get organic.

Having said this, I found that organic bread spoiled too quickly in my house. So the oatmeal and whole wheat breads I purchase are nutritionally sound but not organic.  I recently found cheap organic ketchup at whole foods, but before that I purchased regular ketchup because my kids went through tons of it rather quickly.

I think you need to pick and choose which products to buy and which to avoid based on your own preferences and circumstances.
