Sriracha?

I don't know if I've just gotten used to a lot of spice, but the last bottle of Sriracha Sauce I bought doesn't seem all that hot. It says "super hot" and it's the same brand I've always bought, but I dunno, it just doesn't seem up to much. Granted, I have this flu/chestcold thing. But white pepper seems to have more oomph in it than this stuff. Could I just have gotten a mild batch, or am I just getting hardened?

Maybe it's just that brand.  My sriracha is superhot, but then I use a lot of it when I use it...meaning I smother my food.

I've noticed it loses its punch after it gets kinda old.... check the date on the bottle.

That's probably it.

ETA: I checked the bottle...don't see a date. But there's a Spanish language sticker over the bottom third of the bottle...I bet they covered the date and I got an old batch.

You could make your own and control the spice :)

what do you use sriracha on?

Lots of things. Whatever you want to add spice to, before or after it's cooked. I like it on ful or other bean dishes. It tastes better than Tabasco.

not really totally relevant to this thread, but whatevs :P.....

I have always used hot chilli sauces in the past but have only just discovered sriracha.....I love it.  It's great.  It is hot, but kinda in a manageable way.  Other chilli sauces I've had have literally been too hot if I used more than a couple of drops, but not really any taste, if that makes sense.

With sriracha I can add quite a bit and get some heat AND taste.  I love me some sriracha.

That's what I meant, Shell. You get heat AND savoury flavour. More bang for your buck.

what do you use sriracha on?

Everything.

My favorites: COLD PIZZA, any Asian dishes, leftover lasagna, anything garlic-y.
