What to do for trick-or-treaters???

???  It's almost Halloween time and I was wondering if any other vegans pass out candy or treats.  Hubby and I don't want to be party poopers, but also don't want to give children gross, horrible things like bone-char processed sugar, dairy, and gelatin.  We thought about organic fresh fruit, but it seems like many parents want items that are individually packaged and sealed so homemade baked goods are out.  Here are a couple of ideas we've considered...Any suggestions would be wonderful.

1.  Packaged individual-sized vegan cookies or crackers
2.  Organic Juice boxes
3.  Sample sized packages of vegan gummy bear multivitamins (this would probably get our house paint-balled, though)

some lemonheads aren't vegan, just fyi

im giving out snyders mini bags of pretzels , its cute the mini bags come in one giant bag that looks like a pumpkin:)-got that at whole foods, $2.99 for 24 mini bags. Also, semisweet chocolate mini bars from Trader joes, $1.99 for 12 bars and Organic lolly pops also from Trader Joes-i think it was 24 pops for $2.99 (but im not positive). I grew up favoring chocolate at halloween, so i was soooo glad we started carrying the chocolate mini bars this year!

Last year my husband decided he was not going to give kids junk food and bought glow stick bracelets to hand out. I was sure that they would be a total flop. I even started out the evening telling him "well, ok, but I'm not going to be the one handing them out!"  Turns out I was completely wrong! The kids LOVED them.

Yeah, I've heard it was only in the larger ones too.

Also, I think the site that said there was butter in jolly ranchers was crazy. Haha. weird.

Personally, I like to peruse my local Asian food mart for more "exotic" candies, like gummy lychees and mango-flavored things. They're inexpensive, and offer a lot of stuff that's jelly-like but uses agar-agar as opposed to gelatin. Also as a kid, I would have been thrilled to recieve something different from the usual, and would have saved it for very last.

We handed out some candy, pencils, and Play-Dough this year. The Play-Dough was the biggest hit.

When we got home, Noah and I started sorting the candy into vegan and non-vegan piles. DH started gobbling up candy corns (gross) and Noah was telling him how gross that was! Noah was so great about the stuff we weren't going to eat though. He really likes the experience of trick or treating and doesn't care that much about the candy. We give him vegan treats on a regular basis anyway, so he doesn't really feel like he's missing out on anything.
Lyle got a box or raisins and was devouring that. That was a nice treat to receive! Our neighbors gave them each a whole container of organic lolly pops-that was really thoughtful and nice (she knows were vegan).

Courth...did you make the playdough or buy the small containers?

We bought little containers. They were pretty cheap at Costco, like $7.50 for 80 containers. We usually get a lot of kids.

I have not ordered from them but thought it was a great site.  http://www.naturalcandystore.com/  They offer quite a bit of vegan candy.  It is not just holiday candy either.

POISON THE LITTLE BUGGERS

I'm with SB on this.  Besides, it takes hours and hours to properly insert all those razor blades into all that candy.  Poison would be so much easier!
