What you all didn't tell me about the juicer...
No, you didn't mention they are a nightmare to clean, but I could tell that was going to be the case, LOL
What you all failed to mention is how wonderful this stuff makes you feel! I don't drink juice as a rule. I don't know what is in bottled stuff or frozen stuff and heck, it might not even be real juice. It tastes flat without the high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavorings and I just refuse to pay good money for glorified sugar water. I have not had juice in I can't remember when. I know that carrot juice, fresh, is very good for you and I have never liked the taste...until now.
I didn't have time for a good healthy breakfast and I didn't want something heavy anyway. I juiced a handful of organic baby carrots, which is all I had, a small apple, a small orange and about 6 inches of an English cucumber. OH MY GOSH. It was the perfect amount when I poured it into a glass, but I could have downed 3 times that amount just as fast. IT WAS OUT OF SIGHT. I was afraid if I had a juicer I'd really really love it and I do.
Now, what to juice for lunch?
juice apple, cucumber, kale and a beet. makes for a mighty tasty, healthy lunch drink
I'm so glad you are feeling great, Dragonfly!
Yeah-- mine's a fiddle to clean, and it's designed to be the easiest (it's the Jack LaLanne thing). But the juice is worth it!
My hubby and I were just talking about how utterly good we're feeling. We've made exactly 2 changes in our diet: we're juicing once per day or once every other day, and we're growing sprouts and sneaking them into a meal a day (a snack, lunch, or a pinch on top of our salads.) That's it! I feel that my asthma is troubling me less (a feat, in fall/winter weather) and we both feel well and remarkably alert!
I'm the last person to say "OMG do this for your health" to people, but this has sure made a difference in my own.
Fruit in general always makes me feel good. It's so light. Supposed to be the perfect breakfast food, as it takes less energy to digest than it contains. Leaving you a surplus.
I don't know how people on this board feel about Nake Juice, but I LOVE the Green Machine type. So good! :)

Jason-- Green Machine ROCKS! I am trying to figure out how to duplicate that myself.
LadyD, you're making me envious... I want a juicer now!
...I wonder what is the easiest brand to clean? Anyone know?
That's one of the selling points for the Jack LaLanne one (which I own)... they always mention what a snap it is to clean.
Well... it's easy to assemble/disassemble but six oddly-shaped parts of the sucker end up filthy, which takes some monkeying with. On the bright side, people who complain about it being a pain on review pages are generally those who 1) put it in a dishwasher too hot and warped the pieces, 2) those who don't clean it til it's gotten sticky, or 3) those who don't do a lot of other cooking.
I find that if my kitchen is clean before I make juice it's a breeze, but that if I have to clear pots and pans out of my sink to clean the juicer it's a pain. Your mileage may vary. ;)

1/2 pear
1/2 sweet potato
mmmm delicious!
cheers

YOU JUICE A SWEET POTATO????? Ohhhh I didn't think! I did buy one ENORMOUS bag of carrots to juice this week, for it will only last the week I fear.
I am intrigued...here I thought the only "innovation" with the sweet spud was making fries.
