Getting tested

So I don't know where to put this, but I am going in tomorrow to get tested for STD's and I'm like scared shitless. I just don't know what the results are because there is always a risk. This is the worst feeling ever. Not knowing. I don't know how long they take but I hope at least they'll do the rapid HIV test. That's the biggie. Now I'm thinking of all two of the people I've been sexual with and who they've been with and its seriously stressing me out.

I guess I just need some support and for some stories of your own?

well ive never needed to be tested for std's, but i'll be sending good vibes your way!! hugs!

I have been tested and everything was negative.  idk, nothing exciting to tell.  You use condoms, right?  If so, then your risk is small.

If you've always used protection and have no inexplicable symptoms, I don't think you have anything to worry about. The waiting is always worst, when I arrived in Russia for my study year abroad I had to have an HIV test, and despite being 100% sure I didn't have HIV I was still nervous.

I get tested all the time.... part of my job and all.  I've been in a monogomous relationship for over 4yrs and I still get nervous.

The only thing I'm scared of is giving a blow job without a condom but the guy said he gets tested every month and everything came back negative five days before. And he didn't ejaculate....He's very adamant about being clean. I just don't know him very well and I regret doing. I think its shame I'm feeling mostly.

hmmm... I wouldn't worry about it! Sounds like you are pretty careful.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this.
I'm sure you're fine.

if it's shame you're feeling, maybe next time what you really need is to wait until you know them better or are in a steady relationship.
obviously that's not for everyone, but it is an option.

anyways, since you're talking about blowjobs.. maybe next time you should put a thread like this in the 'do not disturb' section.
I don't mind it being here because otherwise, I wouldn't have clicked here (I steer clear of the DND threads) and this doesn't offend me;
I'm merely suggesting it.

Yeah, these new sections confuse me a bit as to what is supposed to go where. I'm fine with it being moved to the appropriate section. And yeah, casual sex is not in my vocabulary.

Something to consider:  This guy is sexually active with enough people to feel the need to get a monthly test.  That right there would make me reconsider.  Plus, some STDs have an incubation period, so he may have an STD and it may not show up on his last test.  In fact, if you think you may have recently been potentially exposed, consider getting a test now and another one in six months from now.

No he had a heart attack (he's older) so he has to get his blood checked every month to be " free of any and all possible diseases" and to make sure everything is okay. I don't know if that's standard procedure but his story hasn't changed. And the incubation period thing is what worries me. And this was like a month ago so hopefully if I do have anything, which I hope to God I don't, it would show up by now.

I'm sending you hugs ledzepfan.  It's been many years since I got tested, or needed to, but I do recall the paranoia that comes along with the wait.  I got tested after leaving the idiot I married (he'd been a big cheater).  After getting a good result, the nurse recommended that I come back in 6 months (like HH recommended above) and have a second test just to be absolutely certain, so I did and all was well.  Chances are, after a good result on test #1 you will be just fine, especially if you haven't been with a serial cheater like I was.

Well I just got back and I asked for the quick HIV test and it was negative. They said most people seroconvert in a few weeks but a small amount of people it takes up to 3 months. And they said that since its been a month, that its a good sign that the negative is real. I was so so freaked but now I know I just have to not be stupid but I'm scared to do anything with anyone ever.

Don't be scared. If you're intimate with someone you know and can reasonably trust, you have a recent bill of clean sexual health from them and you use protection, you'll be just fine.* Hell, even if you only do the last two you massively reduce your chances of contracting anything nasty.

*I actually typed "just fun" first so there you go, Freudian confirmation that I'm right :D

Okay I guess it doesn't help that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and will have panic attacks about me possibly being sick. I still get really really scared and what if the tests were wrong? Or not enough time passed? I read the average time it takes for a positive HIV test is 25 days and its been 31 days since the incident or whatever you want to call it in question. But I also read that the chances of getting HIV from oral sex is 0.5 in 10,000.

I hate this.

You can only get HIV from oral sex only if you have a scratch, cut, sore, or other entryway for the virus in your mouth.  Once it hits your stomach the virus dies.  Unless you have something like that, the chances are just so, so slim.  But in the future you should definitely use a condom for peace of mind.

Do you have a reason for believing he is HIV positive?  Does he engage in risky behavior?  I know you said you don't know him well, but then again you also know enough about him to know of this heart attack/monthly STD test thingy, so....?  Perhaps just stop and think, take a breath, and ask yourself if you are being rational.

No I have no reason to assume he is positive. I'm pretty sure I didn't have any sores or cuts in my mouth either. I panic about things easily especially things like diseases and even a cold I freak out about sometimes.
