Dhabu Joy - Austin

Went there yesterday, ate  my first vegan chocolate chip cookie. <3

Soooo good and I'm dragging my BF there later to show him Vegan food does not equal "yuk"

dhaba joy is amazing.  will you be in austin on saturday?  jewel and i are having a meet up, were going to mothers and dhaba joy.

I love that place.  I was just there Monday - I had the fire latte, a tempeh reuben, and a Czech tea cake, and all were great.  I brought home (to Dallas) a mint chocolate agave cookie for my husband, and it was excellent too.

I'm lucky I moved away from there when I did, for my weight's sake.

This is on my list of veggie restaurants to try while I'm in Texas.

Guess what?  Dhaba Joy is officially no more.

Sooo sad.  They had some really yummy cookies and soft serve.

i went there last weekend and they still have the soft serve machine and they serve coffee. .... its not the same because the store is packed with overflow from toy joy, but still... i didnt really want to support those new owners though... but i really wanted ice cream!!!  the girl at the register also gave me info on where the bakers are now.  some of them are selling food out of their house or something.  i hope they start up their own place.

I was under the assumption that Dhabu Joy was owned by Toy Joy because they stores led to each other and they shared the name, "joy". But it's good to hear they are kinda open..even if it means no more vegan yummies. :( I'd be interested in contacting the bakers and maybe ordering some cookies. Can you share the information?

Wait, hiimkelsi, are you saying they now have NONvegan ice cream and stuff, but not vegan?  Or both?  Or is it still vegan, but owned by someone else?  I'll be in town next weekend and it would be awesome to still be able to go.

I also heard Hey Cupcake had opened more locations - have you been there?  My mom said they have vegan ones, but I never know if that means it's true.

i'm available pretty much every weekend!  there are only two vegan restaurants in austin any more.  casa de luz and a new raw cafe.  casa de luz is awesome and is much better for hanging out.  any other suggestions?

I'm in Dallas, but I may be able to make it to the meet-up anyway.

Have y'all ever been to Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse?  It's down south on... I think South 1st?  I know it's right by Texas School for the Deaf, but I can't remember which side.  Anyway, they have a bunch of food.  It's not all vegan, and the place is pretty small, but their soul plate is excellent.
