Help me plan a day trip to NYC. Please.

Okay, I'm sad to say that I've lived in or just outside of Philadelphia my whole life and have been to New York three times.  I want to plan a day trip to NYC for my fiance's 30th birthday.  I plan on us taking the bus because I have no desire to drive and/or park in the city.

The bus will take us to Penn Station at 34th and 8th (dude. what's with the number on number cross streets? but I digress).  Anyway, I need help from there.  Where can we go?  Where should we eat that's vegan/omni friendly?  How do we get there?

My fiance is not a big theater or art person so I need other ideas.  Thanks so much for your help.

red bamboo(save room for desert)
franchia
check out grand central for the architecture
central park
stroll tribeca/ west village
end up in the east village and have a few drinks at counter (organic wine, martini, beer bar and veg bristo).

there is honestly so much to do in nyc... you could run all over or just stroll and hit two of what I listed...

Let me chime in here with my favorites!  Candle 79, Museum of Modern Art, Babycakes, Buddha Bodhai and strolling through various parks and beautiful areas.  Im not big on the tourist things like Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty but those are neat to see if you are into it!

counter sounds awesome.  we were walking around for a good 30 minutes looking for a nice place to get a drink.  i should have done some research before we went!  that sounds like my kind of bar.

I went to Franchia again last night soo effin' divine.
My friend got an entree and I got vegan sushi and the handmade ginger tea which is seriously mind blowing.
