Portland

Hi everyone!  I taking a trip to Portland and I've never been before.  Does anyone have any good recomendations?  I'm especially looking for vegan soft serve, gelato, ice cream, or anyother place with good desserts!

I'm haven't seen any place that sells vegan ice cream or frozen desserts of that type, but veganopolis (an all- vegan cafeteria-style restaurant) has amazing cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts like that. There are TONS of other vegan and vegetarian restaurants that serve great food all over the city. I've listed some of my favorites in the "restaurants" section here.

Try Food Fight Grocery (http://www.foodfightgrocery.com/).  It's a vegan junk food store.

They do sell packaged frozen desserts like soy ice cream pints or quarts, but no soft serve or anything made to order. I do recommend checking it out, though, especially for harder-to-find items.

ohhhh, i love portland. i went once and had no idea where i was going still had tons of places to choose from to eat at.
also, i have been wanting soy soft serve FOREVER! i used to work at a forzen yogurt place and it was like my favorite but since going vegan.. no dice (there were these people that i met in there once who were vegan except for that particular soft serve because they loved it too much to give up.. and that was after like 11 years of veganism).
i have heard that there is a place in san diego (near san diego state university) that offers a soy flavor daily so next time i am down in that area i am going to check it out.

i don't know about the ice cream, but i experienced my first trip to portland 2 weeks ago and DAMN there's a lot of food to eat!  I reccommend Laurelthirst and Juniors for breakfast and Vita Cafe and Kalga Cafe and the Black Sheep Bakery, too.  OOOH, don't forget VooDoo donuts!

Vegan soft serve can be found at The Blossoming Lotus. Their food is 100% vegan, organic and delicious. I think they are only open for lunch, however. It is in the Pearl District just a couple of blocks away from Powell's Books. Enjoy Portland!
