San Diego trip
I'll be taking a trip to San Diego in a little over a month. Just a family vacation and we'll be doing touristy stuff. For those of you who are familiar with the area - where do you like to eat?
I've perused Happy Cow and have some ideas but I'd like some vegwebber insight!
holy shizzzz that's so close to me! if you can try Native Foods... i think it is up here though in the "OC"...
if you dig salad bars with decent dressing (i bring my own along LOL) there is soupplantation...
i am sure there are plenty of veg friendly restaurants, it is so cal after all...
Definitely Pokez! :)>>>
pokez is bomb, BUT they have better and worse days in terms of cooks. if you go on a good day it's AMAZING. I would say pokez is fine for kids, there are often children there. Unless you are afraid or her seeing moody hipsters :). The bad service is just slow sometimes and not necessarily friendly, they aren't cursing at you or anything. Also try ranchos in north park or ocean beach for great mexican food (similar to pokez, but with a bigger menu, slightly more expensive, a little healthier, a little better ambiance http://ranchoscocina.com/ ). Where are you staying? I'd LOVE to meet up, and if you want (if I'm free) I'd be happy to babysit for you and you can do something alone with your husband :).. I'm sure it can be hard having a kid with you all of the time and expensive for help!
When are you planning on coming?
I also love chopstix inn in La Mesa. There was another thai place that I went to in downtown san diego which is great. Do you prefer vegan/vegetarian specific places or are you into places you have to specify vegan stuff but get great food?
There is also a vegan ethiopian place that I have never checked out but have wanted to http://www.yelp.com/biz/harar-ethiopian-restaurant-san-diego (since I'm almost exclusively whole foods ad generally raw I don't really eat out). San Diego is super veg friendly... I have some vegan friends who aren't super healthy and actually eat out and I could get some info from them, too. Feel free to email me with any questions pixxistix at gmail dot com and I'm serious about babysitting!
oh, and this is hespedal, by the way :) forgot to log out of my husbands account.
