vegan in BC?

Hey guys,
I am going to BC. Any suggestions on vegan friendly places to travel? Not specific restaurants per say, but something more specific than "Vancouver" or "Victoria." I am basically stumped on making an itinerary. I like adventure if that helps.
Thanks a bunch.

check out happycow at www.happycow.net and www.happycow.net/north_america/canada/index.html for restaurants etc.

hope that helps some!

What's yer mode of transportation? Car, bike, bus?

The southern gulf islands are super pretty, google Galiano Island, Pender Island, Mayne Island or Salt Spring Island. The first three islands are pretty small so you'll want to bring your own food from the mainland but Salt Spring is larger and veggie friendly. If you're moderately fit, island hoping would be a good bike tour. I <3 the gulf islands.

Courtney BC on Vancouver Island is veggie and raw friendly. Tofino and Uculet are spectacular, excellent storm watching or surfing. Lots of B&B's.  You could do a nice car tour of Vancouver Island.

Whistler is pretty hip but freakin' expensive.

There's a very lovely and veggie friendly B&B outside of Revelstoke, Griffin Lake Lodge.

um.. Nelson is hip, but I've never been there.

If you've got access to a 4X4, I can recommend some off road adventures... although venturing off into the woods by yourself probably isn't a good idea.

Restaurants to visit in Vancouver.. the Naam (24 hour microbiotic), Bo Kong (Buddest Chinese), Hons (separate veggie and meat kitchens), Capers Market Deli (several locations)... there are more, but I don't get out much  :(

If you have specific questions ask away!

Ooh, I recently moved from Victoria to Vancouver and have found the earthsave.ca website to be extremely useful in finding veg-friendly restaurants, retailers, organizations, etc. Where specifically in BC did you want to know about?

Thanks Laine!! That is a fantastic resource! In all my googling I never once came across that guide, but it is worth printing out and carrying with me all trip. (That's right, I haven't gone yet, but was planning months in advance due to extreme excitement of visiting BC) :P

Hey, no problem! I just got back went to the Radha Eatery and Yoga house tonight actually (Main & Prior here in Vancouver) and it was FANTASTIC. I had never been before but I will definitely be back. I think it's listed on the list of restaraunts there. It's a yoga house but and I think they are only open a couple of nights a week (weekends) and use organic ingredients and have a lot of raw foods. One of the appetizers our group shared was raw root vegetable crisps with two different raw dips- highly recommend!
