what food do you miss the most?

I'm sure this has already been addressed in some other post, but there are WAY to many to look through.  I was wondering, since becoming vegan, which food do you miss the most from your preveggie days?  And please don't say, "I don't miss anything" or something to that effect.  I personally miss cheddar cheese.  Can't say that i miss anything else as much, seems everything else i can find suitable replacement for, but have not found a good replacement for the cheese.  No I have not tried Diaya (sp?) yet, can't find it anywhere near where I live, and not a fan of buying just 1 or 2 items on line.

p.s.  Just out of curiosity, why do some spell vegan, veg*n?

Oh that would be lovely! Thank you! The vegan version is good though? I just tried my hand at vegan cheddar cheese and was surprised it was pretty dang close to the real thing.

I've never tried it but I'm going to at some point. If you do it before me, let me know how it came out.

I don't really miss anything but If I had to name something it would be buffalo wings, with ranch dressing. I don't crave it or anything, I have no regrets or temptations.

Have you tried going to any Muslim stores to look for alternatives? I love going to them because they have a ton of vegan options because of their restrictions.

cheese pizza (though Daiya has been satisfying the craving lately)
novelty ice cream treats (like I said before, choco tacos! agh.)
mozzarella sticks
pretzels with cheese sauce

these are all rather unhealthy foods, though, so I don't have moments when I really want them. I craved them a lot when I was transitioning, but I've been vegan for over 2 years now (will be 3 in September), so I don't even remember what these things taste like anymore.

pretzels with cheese sauce

dude! most of the frozen pretzels i have seen are vegan and nutritional yeast sauce tastes excatly the same to me as that nacho cheese sauce... try vegweb's melty cheese but you must use soy milk or it turns out NASTY for some reason

I don't know if they're veg*n or not (probably not) but I Do know you can't get them here: Three Musketeers bars. I have been jonesing for one for two days. Frozen.

The Buccaneer bar from gomaxgo does the trick for that craving. I'd send you one but it'd be a melted mess by the time you got it.

I realized that I miss matzah ball soup when my friend asked if we could try making vegan spelt matzah ball soup when I visit. I have tried to make vegan matzah ball soup (multiple times) and it's just not the same. I had to crush her dreams.

Have you tried the recipe in Vegan With A Vengeance for matzah ball soup?

The Matzoh Ball Soup recipe in The Vegan Table is awesome.  Totally delicious.

I miss being able to piss off militant "animal rights" vegans, Jews (my own ethnic group), and Muslims by eating me some dead pig!  Now I have to tell militant vegans that, even though I eat like they do for health and other rational reasons, I torture and dissect a dozen kittens every day before breakfast for my sheer enjoyment.  If they just applied the same trick, a lot more non-socialists would finally be able to go vegan!  >:D

Identity politics aside, I don't really miss anything about eating meat.  I liked the taste, but my mathematical mind keeps counting fat and cholesterol with every bite, which definitely offsets the enjoyment.

For me its seafood, icecream, and rich  cheeses. Vegan icecream is amazing but I have yet to fine one that replicates it completely.  :'(

so they're gummi like the trolli brand? all vegan gummies i've had have been denser and less chewy... still good but lacking the consistency of the animal parts stuff

hmmm not sure. I think they're not as chewy/dense as gelatin-based gummies.

I sort of miss being able to drunkenly eat. I'm so worried I'll make a stupid mistake when I'm drunk and eat something not vegan, so I try not to eat unless I am 1000% sure it's vegan.  Or I make it myself with my ingredients.
