ATC swap! thread - sign up here

This is a branch off of the artist trading cards thread

If you have questions about what to do and what this is about, please see the thread posted above.

This is a SIGN UP for our first round of swaps!  DUE MAY 10 in my HOT LITTLE HANDS

The themes are (you can pick 1 or more)

--People
--Animals
--Surprise (anything you want to make - it will be a surprise)

For each theme you want to do, you will send 3 cards and get 3 back. Hopefully there will be enough so I can swap you within theme but, if not, then you'll get a mix.

Cards need to be 2.5x3.5 inches. You can use any medium you wish. Please avoid heavy embellishments/thick cards (like 1/4 inch, not like cardstock). Please send stuff you are proud of. Most of us are not "artist" but the fun of doing ATCs is that we can share our unique artistic ways of doing things. Cards that are not to size will be returned to you.

Let us know in the thread which themes you are gonna make and send for. I set the due date in a little over a month.

ON THE BACK

On the back, please label the card with your name, user name (vegweb or ATCs or both), and the name of your card if you have one. You can also label it "vegweb swap" and the date so people can remember where the card was from.

If you have an account on atcsforall, let me know and i'll give you itrader feedback since you mailed to me.

MAILING
Once ready, MESSAGE ME for my address and send me your cards (see other thread for links).

Everyone: please send a LABEL with your address on it. I'll supply envelopes

US: please send postage equal to the cost to mail your envelop. 3 cards are 1 stamp, more cards might cost more. If you feel lazy or want to help with international postage, you can send me a $1 to cover your postage.

International: if you are outside the US, I'll pay to ship your stuff back.

Shortly after the deadline, I will swap around the cards and mail out the packages to people.

Quickie Reminders

-Everyone is welcome to play! Even if your work is "stick figures", if you put time and care into your work that's fine!
-If you have questions, check out the link above or send me a PM.

So who wants to play? I'll update this list as people sign up. i'm going to do a general list, no theme lists. but theme away!

wait, do we HAVE to have sleeves?

YES!  Especially since I went to a sports card place today and bought some to share.  They're clear but slightly blue tinted, but they're made for 2-1/2- x 3x1/2-inch sports cards so they're the perfect size.  I'll send you some.

I originally bought $5 atc sleeves for $4.37 at an art supply place.  Today I bought 25 sleeves for $3.80 from a sports card place.  Sweet!  I'll send sleeves to anyone who wants 'em.  I bought two packs of 25 each, so I have plenty.  I also have extra bristol vellum paper for people who don't have 2.5x3.5 cards.  I can send them with the sleeves.

I got 100 sleeves for $2. BEAT THAT!

Ok, so, um, you guys aren't really fabulous at art or anything, right? 'cause I'm going to feel super lame if I'm the worst draw-er.

I can't!  It's like thinking you're going to win the race and then at the last minute another runner casually cruises past you.

it doesn't have to be just drawing. you can do painting, collage, mixed media, whatever!

so the sleeves are all connected like baseball card pages, and we just put 3 in the page?
or are they separate?

They're separate.

And _algae_, drawing is probably my best suit out of all of those ¬_¬... but we'll see how it goes. it's been a long time since i've drawn more than a doodle in class.

If you go in search of them, in sports card terms the sleeves you're looking for are called "toploaders" and look like this:

HH - did  you get the hard core sleeves? i got some that are thin plastic 100 for $1

if you don't have/can't find sleeves, you can put your cards in a baggie. the idea for the sleeves is so that you can mail them protected. the sleeve keeps the wet out AND keeps the cards from damaging each other. it also lets you tape the card down a bit to something so the cards don't float around and get messed up.

can we use baseball ones or are they a different size?

Imma gonna mail you sleeves, l2a.

I got the hard core ones because they were clear and because the 100 pound paper I used wasn't heavy enough for the paint and the paper needs to flatten out a bit.  Plus, hard core rules.  8)

it looks like most of them art portrait style (tall ways) but a couple have landscape style (side ways). Is it OK to do either? Noah wants to know.
I couldn't really find rules on the site.

people do them both ways. hell, i do them both ways! i think the big thing is that they are the *right* size (2.5x3.5")
