Roll Call!

Edit.  The following intro is a bit old.  I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years.  Just couldn't be worked out.  I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now.  I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!!  Woot!

Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous!  I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

I deleted my Myspace page.  I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name.  Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.

Edit #3 - Finally went vegan.  The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners.  I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets.  I'm loving it!  Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore.  LOL  I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate.  I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.

Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor.  I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job.  w00t

It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself.  I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years????  But I don't know a lot of you.

I am a nurse.  I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".)  I am gay.  I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.

I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.

I have a very boring blog here:  http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13

You're turn.  Tell me your business!

kissed the Blarney Stone

If you ever go to Ireland again....don't kiss the Blarney Stone.  My Irish friends tell me they pee on it and then laugh at all the tourists kissing it.  :P <---Yuck!

Yeah, I was told the same thing when I lived in Dublin, but nonetheless, I went and had a nice lick.  It is pretty funny, the top part of the stone is dull and grey, but the bottom part where everyone kisses is shiny and black.  I wonder if it is because of the constant streams of urine, or from the neverending line of sloppy kisses?

lol!  I dont think tongue is a requirement while kissing the blarney stone.  :o  To each his own though.  ;D

I kissed it when I was like 9 years old.  Does the magic of the stone wear off after a while?  Maybe I need to go give it another kiss.  ::)

Heya Ryan, a fellow Syracuse native here!  You're probably too young to remember the Earth Crisis scene in Syracuse, but it was pretty sweet.  Nice to have you on vegweb!  What's your band name if you don't mind me asking?

Another person from CNY!  YES!  Welcome Ryan!

Hey, I might be in Syracuse to visit a few people this weekend are there any good veg*n restaurants in the area that are worth stopping at?

Alto Cinco!  They have the best burritos I've had on the East Coast.  The super vegan burrito is awesome, but most of the reason is because their guac is so fresh.

if anybody wants to see a vegan wedding, i've just uploaded some photos - http://vegweb.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=2052

I hate going to weddings (so cheesy...and pointless...just a piece of paper...the only good thing is the alcohol...yes, I'm very romantic, ha!)...but this wedding looks great!! All VEGAN FOOD?!!! That's great! I'd be there!  :)

Oh the booze consisted of one of the finest selections of bio-wines, spirits and beers i have ever seen.

Apparently the germans passed a law, the beer purity law, in the 16th century stating that the only ingredients in beer should be hops, water and barley malt

Needless to say there was 's enough alcohol to make anybody romantic!

I don't remember her user name but she's on VegWeb. I've seen her pics and profile before! Even saw some of the wedding pictures. :)

Hello good people!
I'm Carrie, in Greensboro NC.
I'm a recent retread...I was vegetarian for about 5 years, from 19-24...and i succumbed to hot wings  :(
it was all downhill from there.
now i'm 30 & have decided (finally)  to do better by me & the earth.
I cohabitate with one sweet kitty, one spoiled-brat cat, and the best & smartest dog in the world.
Anyway I am really excited to find this board, it looks like good people, a lot of fun & I have much to learn from like-minded folks.  I've eaten no flesh in about 3 months but I am still having cheese...no milk though.  I feel behind for having taken so long to stop & think about my habits, but I'm looking to improve & learn, and hopefully create a kinder & simpler life for myself & whoever else I can share with.
:)
I'm pleased to 'meet' you all!

:) Hello fellow veggies.  I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, mom , substitute teacher(working on my certification), southerner and crocheter/knitter(new to it).  I find this website helpful because I learn how to handle cooking veggies in new and interesting ways.  I look forward to many interesting conversations and sharing my love of vegetables.

welcome carrie! im glad you decided to quit meat again! i wish ya good luck with that. can i make a suggestion? this helped a friend of mine. she really liked chicken too, but found that it was hard to quit eating it, and "fake" chicken made it harder because she said it still looked the same and still encouraged the idea that chickens are "food". so we wrote a list of all the things she liked about it. "salty" "crunchy" "greasy" etc. and came up with a vegetarian replacement. she found that batter-fried chunks of potatoes were the perfect thing for her craving :) maybe this help you find something similar!
