Oh, I forgot being judgmental, being morally superior, and being undernourished!

other vegans

Hear, hear.  The instant camaraderie with other vegans is my favorite thing.

It makes me feel special(and awesomer than everyone else...well, non-vegans, that is...)

I also love that it forces me cook and be creative. I feel sad for the people who never really learn how to cook and just whip out a box of hamburger helper each night...

of course, VegWeb and sharing vegan breakthroughs with other vegans
eta: what has become of the vegan meringue we were all excited about? must go check....

Vegweb is obviously one of the best perks of being vegan :) I also think that being a vegan has given me a new appreciation for food! When you first go vegan it like "what the heck do I eat?" and slowly you figure it out and before you know it you're trying so many different foods--if it we're not for this special diet I would still be chowing down of crazy nasty junk food--instead I get to experience so many new and wonderful things! *Yea*

:cat: has spoken *hahaha*

Making vegan food taste "unvegan" and fooling friends with my creations.

And then after I fool them once, their willingness to try the new stuff I make that is vegan.

This just made me think of a question. Do your friends that you are making food for not know that you are vegan? Or, would you make non-vegan things..also? Or they THINK you would make non-vegan things?

I think if I made food for any friend or family...they would know that it would be vegan.

people at the pool where i work always ask me to make "normal" stuff. i say sure, and theyre like "none of that vegan shit" and im like of course ill make it normal.

and then i make vegan stuff and feed it to them and they say its awesome and then i tell them.
hehehe (:

How can vegan food not be normal? Food is food...

My absolute favourite thing about being vegan is the knowledge that I'm treading lightly on the planet. But, you know... new vegan friends ;), not feeling guilty about eating ice cream (because it's soy and organic, etc.), the vegweb community, incredible new recipes, and saving cute little chickens by not eating them and their babies... those are pluses too!

I am just talking about wary friends, and the first time I made them something vegan.  I told them the queso dip was made with cheese, and hamburger.  Then I told them it was vegan.  And they did not believe me.

And now I never lie, but they are always more than willing to try my vegan food. My friend said my tofu "egg" salad was the best egg salad she ever had!

So, no, I don't make anyone think that my food is not vegan.  Just the once the first month I was vegan.  I wanted them to have an open mind, just because I was not sure they would try it, and if they did, they would look at it (and taste it) in a different light.  And I have to admit, it was fun fooling them.

i'll make food for a potluck but wont tell people that its my dish until someone says 'oh this potato salad is really good, who made it?' 'i made it, and its vegan!' mwahha!!

My favourite thing is all the neat recipes I have tried from VW and learning to make decent falafel.
But the BEST BEST BEST thing was running a websearch for "vegetarian recipes" and finding VW in the first place! And then meeting all of you!
I have so many good friends that I met here. Y'all rock. I'm not gonna shout-out cuz we'd be here all day. But I would not be free of my addiction and walking and getting in shape if it weren't for y'all. And I probably would have given up  the attempt to return to Vegetaria if not for y'all. This is such a valuable resource. I wish I were wealthy so I could make a massive donation every year.

After all, it was what I learned about tofu on VW that got DH to eat a LOT of things that he never would have tried. True, he's still omni but he's a LOT more open. It was Strawberry Jam's chocolate tofu pudding that did it!!  ;)b
