The "I'd Like to Thank" Thread
This is a thread to express our gratitude...to people we know, or people we don't. To anyone you feel has been helpful, supportive, or otherwise positive in your life, living or dead. Even if it's just the author of a book written 300 years ago, or whatever.
I'll start. I'd like to thank VegWebbers, particularly Amymylove, for helping me break the addiction to OTC sleeping pills. I know I've tried to do this before but this time it feels different. Posting about it here helped me face it, and talk about it to people like DH and my church. I'm still working through it (the occasional sleepless night) but I am sure this time that I really don't "need" those little pink things. I actually sleep better without them. I realise now that I do dream more, even if the dream is gone the second I open my eyes.
Thanks, friends. Thanks also to Doctor J, Charo and Vicente, and the longsuffering man who married me.
yay abrimmer <3 you are such a sweetie, i would like to thank you for inspiring me and giving a much needed shout out to God who never stops loving... this is what helps me when i am feeling at rock bottom and alone... i always have God and these struggles we deal with def bring us closer to Him
Aww, you are a love! I am so happy to know you. :) Just remember that God is good ALL the time and has your back. I'm also here if you ever need a friend. (((hugs)))
thanks sweet thang <3 life has been rough lately (((hugs))) to you too <3
larisuena: i am glad you have so much support in your life, hang in there!
i would like to thank yabbit for always checking up in me as well as shea, wonderful ladies <3
I'd like to thank Lilias Folan for her 1970's TV programme, "Lilias, Yoga and You." It taught me the principles I needed to spend the rest of my life doing basic hathayoga, which has saved my body's sanity more than once. Now at 49 I am hugely more flexible than most Spanish women of my age. Learning the basics at such a young age means my body has never forgotten the moves.
I'd also like to thank LaRisueña for always being just that: pleasant and positive.
I'd like to thank Yabbit for the beautiful Malachite necklace. It is so very me and you are so very kind.

This song sums up my thanks for many bands that have inspired me to keep on living.
Thank You Amy and Thank You Yabbit.
I'd like to thank the Beatles for wonderful music.

I love it when I get it right. Listen for the "click." Always.
I'd like to thank Sea of Green and the Vegweb ladies in general for telling me about Lush Cosmetics. My hair has never been so happy as since I started using their shampoo bars.
Based on vw chatter, I got a Lush shampoo bar for my sister for a stocking stuffer. It was $15, so I could only afford one, but I hope to try it myself someday.

Yeah, they're not cheap, but to be honest I was desperate. I've got half a dozen bottles (well, OK, really only 3) of regular shampoo hanging around and they all make my hair look like crap. Lush has really restored my hair's beauty, and I don't usually say things like that. DH is bald so he says he'll use up the sham-poos as sort of shower gel. He has only a tiny little tonsure that gets thinner as he gets older.
I'd like to thank Jane Austen for teaching me about the importance of the pointed understatement, particularly how to be so polite it's actually insulting, while not using any words or phrases that the opponent could actually point out as rude or demeaning. For the modern workplace, it pays to have a large vocabulary and know how to use it.
I've said it before, but I'd like to thank Lilias Folan again, for teaching me all I know about yoga, and for producing a book for people of a certain age which takes into account our fragilities.
I'd like to thank Dreena Burton and Isa Chandra Moskowitz for teaching me how to cook!
I'd like to thank VegWeb for being my community since I became vegan almost 6 years ago...especially peeps like AC, Storm, Capture, JessaCita, Tweety, and others I've gotten to know through the forums.
I'd like to thank God for my beautiful son and husband.
I'd like to thank Vita-Mix for inventing the most kiss-ass blender ever. ;)b
