Reasons to frown

Ok, so we have a smiling thread.  This thread is for all of the little dumb things that make you frown, or angry, or sad, etc., etc.

I'll start.  I had chili for lunch today.  I brought some crackers for the chili and a banana for breakfast.  THE CRACKERS ABSORBED THE BANANA FLAVOR THROUGH THE BAG, SO I HAD BANANA FLAVORED CHILI FOR LUNCH! >:(

aww fuf that's not cool, how long till teh mattness gets home from work? Hope you find something fun to do... maybe you could start with some pumpkin soymilk, kahlua and vodka?  I hear that's a good way to pass an evening...  ; )

I've been trying to set up an appt at the hospital for a good 5 weeks now, and they still haven't gotten back to me.  Every time I call them I get transferred to the wrong section so I have to call back, get put on hold, get disconnected, call back, eventually talk to someone who says they just got my referral a few days ago (bullshit) and says they'll move it to the top of the stack and get back to me asap (also bullshit).

I need the hospital appt so I can sign up for antenatal classes so I can know what dates I'll be available so I can get a flight to my brother's wedding in January.  Stressful.

Stupid f***ing NSW health system.

veganhippie, that's terrible! I don't think I would have had an appetite for dinner after taking a gander at a turkey's heart. It was bad enough looking at the cooked carcass on my family's table during dinner today.

Thanksgiving has never been my favorite holiday. It seems like an easy excuse to wallow in gluttony. I am thankful for the things I have, but I can have gratitude for them every day of the year without being indulgent and condoning the excess in the name of a holiday.

And just the general, cramming a turkey full of things, digging it all out, and everyone being so excited to have a turkey today. Ick. =[ And while i was cooking things the homemade gravy with giblets and things was on the stove bubbling, ew.

Even when I ATE meat I had no desire for giblets. It's so.....jibbly. Blech.

When we went over the avian GI tract at school... I was lookin' at a chicken cadaver, when one of the anatomists came over and asked my group which were the giblets. Stomach for sure... and the intestines... and the heart... kidneys... liver... and lungs. Eeech. It's even weirder thinking about it from a medical perspective. That stuff isn't even made of "meat," and the resident flora and the disease processes happening in that tissue right now... It just scream of "not. food."

o  m    g.    I don't think I ever knew what the "giblets" were... i mean... I knew they were generic innards....but now that I KNOW....it's even grosser.

Yeah, especially with birds... I mean, the crop and the gizzard (second stomach)? Those can easily have SAND and bits of ROCKS in them. Sure you can clean it out, but... I wouldn't eat food off a seriously dirty floor even if I cleaned it well. It's just not worth it.

We eat plants.. from the ground.

I understand what you're saying, just figured I'd point that out :)

Yeah, I was just thinking about the potential shards of glass or metal in food. I guess soil could have that too, but it feels different when you have to clean debris out from the inside of your food as opposed to the outside.

I am frowning because I all of a sudden have several reasons to frown.

And also because I am so hungover I think anything other than frowning is impossible right now.

1/3 of our city's water supply has been contaminated, and we have been told not to drink the water for the next 24 hours. What are people doing? Panicking of course. People are buying bottled water like it is liquid platinum before a wedding rush. Even people who live miles from the contaminated areas. Good effing lord people... you need one or two gallons... not 20... spread it around for everyone you nitwits.
