Reasons to smile

I guess not everyone needs to find a reason, but... What made you smile and/or laugh today?

My first LOL of the day was caused by this LOLdog.

I went to the uniform laundry room at work yesterday, to ask if I could try on a size smaller in my trousers. And they fit! The laundry lady asked me if I needed a new shirt, too, so I tried the next size down in that, too. And it fit! Wow. My pants had been slipping down my hips a little for weeks, but last week they got ridiculously slippy. So happy to have confirmation that my body's changing shape/size a little. :iloveyou:

Humming along to the occasional good song at work... it's amazing how much it can lift my mood. ;)b

Overhearing customers' reactions when they can't decide whether flowers are real or not. It's hilarious either way - when they think fake are real, or real are fake. ;D

HH: There is nothing sad about a clean bedroom that is tidy, dust free and has pristine sheets on the bed. You will rest the better for it.

I have learned to vaccuum my matress once a month and it is really helping the dust allergies.

on the topic of panties: i wish i were better about buying them. i wear mine until they are holey/stained/whatever. about a month ago i got a good amount of new ones though, so yay! reason to smile.
p.s. i usually just don't wear underwear, but now that i can wear jeans to work i would rather just wear the same pair of jeans for a week or two and change underwear, less laundry!
p.p.s. i get panties at ross, they are cheap and cute. also, i have always felt like the quality is just as good, if not better, than other places like VS (i hate that place, though).

I'm with you on both accounts.  Despite my love for cute underwear, I don't wear any if I don't have to.  And yes! Ross has a really good selection!  I hardly ever go to VS.

this ^^  except with all underwear

However, I did go out on Saturday and bought 4 new bras, the first time in ages (the underwiring was coming out of one of my old ones ::))
And instead of getting plain basic black cotton, I got exciting ones - onle black with teensy white flowers and lace on it, one black half cotton/half silky (but very nice) black, one the same in white, and one purple one with this black kind of mesh material over the top.  So all very exciting for me (and N seemed to approve)

And yes, I pretty much only bought the purple one because it was purple!

that's a lot of underwear talk. My husband would probably love it if I went mad on buying new things, he's even been known to actively encourage it, but I'm not girly enough/not prepared enough to part with cash for anything not completely necessary

what I actually came here to say was my reason to smile today is that it's Tuesday morning, but I only have three days left of work because we're flying to Wellington on Thursday to visit my brother and his girlfriend, and I'm super excited.
Unfortunately that comes with the downside of having a super busy week at work and having to cram everything into four days... still, I'll take that draw.

oh, shell, i'm even worse with bras than with panties. ha. BUT i also don't wear those much bc i have small boobs and i can get away with not wearing one. i always get the lacy kinds because i can't find anything else that doesn't have too much padding for my taste (i hate padding/push-up).

errmm... my reason to smile is the BBQ jackfruit i am making right now.

I'm with you, hesp.  I'm flat-chested, but I get cold super easy, so I get the slightly padded (not push-up) so I don't headlight at work during a meeting.  Being nipply distracts me from being badass.

I forgot to write why I'm even more happy.  I hired someone to weedeat for me.  He didn't show by 10a, so I started and was done by 11a.  I called him to let him know I was done and didn't need his help.  He was going to let his workers know.  In the meantime, I forgot that I had to replace my rake, so I went to the store and bought one (it's a trek to a store and I stopped at Target for toilet paper, so it took a couple of hours roundtrip).  When I got back home, my weeds were raked into piles.  I guess he didn't tell them soon enough.  Yay, me.  Now all I have to do is bag.

My brother's girlfriend, who arrived in New Zealand four months ago tomorrow has just heard that she has a job offer in the post, finally.  It's such fantastic news, because she's an amazing person, hard working, friendly... but with the recession looming, being a foreigner, and having English as a second language, it's not been an easy path for her. And if something didn't come through for her soon, she might have had to leave and take my brother away with her.... so I'm being seriously super smiley at work right now about this news.  And now I'm even more looking forward to doing some celebrating with them when we visit this weekend.

today's reasons to smile!

- I leave for Pride in a mere 3 days!!!
- I have sexy underwear and bras (since we're on the topic)!
- I taught a dog a new trick today at work
- my mom turned 50 this weekend...we had a fun party
- I went to my very first bath house a few nights ago! amazing! ("my first bath house"...sounds like a children's book haha)

I hear ya.  I'm D but I would never wear anything without some slight cushion to hide the nipplage.

Also, I am stealing your words for my subnick.  :D

Yes, please divulge the bath house experience?  Que?

I RENTED MY HOUSE!!!! WOOHOO!!! It's been on the rental market for... five months or so? and it's been on the selling market for over a year.

(Sorry MDV!)

ETA to bring it on-topic--maybe this is the kick in the pants I need to spend money on new underwear? It's been too long...

Re: being nipply. I don't mind it at all, unless I'm with people I'm not super comfortable around. :) I rarely wear bras, unless i'm at work.

Re: the bath house! Usually the place is a men's bath house, but once in a while they have women & trans night. It was fantastic! It's so SO refreshing to be in an environment where people (especially women, and trans folks) can let go and just be free. It's rare to see people so comfortable with themselves and the people around them. I went with some good friends, it was pretty bonding, and I definitely want to go again! Too bad the "takeover" only happens once in a while..sometimes as little as once a year! I hope they do another one sooner than next june.

ftr, I did not hook up, but there were some definite hotties there. :)

A sneaky plan I concocted this afternoon, to alleviate my loneliness/grumpiness: I went to the cool veg*n organics store after work and bought K some goodies, drove to his house, left them in the mailbox, texted him to let him know, and then zoomed off homewards on my scooter. The exact moment I was taking my phone out of my jacket at home, he texted me back.

Dialogue:
K: That's so sweet. Thanks. When did you come?
A: I came by just after six. Didn't want to disturb you; just wanted to show I was thinking of you today.
K: I thought of you too.
A: Have a good night. Stay warm... it's gonna be frosty.
K: How can I stay warm without you? Goodnight...

Squeee. ;D :)>>> I keep thinking of this and giggling. Och, someone smack me. ::)
