Anyone Ever Heard of The Colonix Program?

I ran into a friend a while back who looked great.  Her skin was glowing, she had lost a couple pounds and she couldn't stop smiling.  I asked what she had done to herself and she mentioned Colonix.  She even showed me pictures of her own "stuff" that resembled the pics on the site.

Has anyone tried this product.  So many positive testimonials..

I've never heard of the Colonix Program, but you could probably cleanse yourself. With a basic detox program, you should be able to achieve the same results. Have you ever tried to detox?

Why, oh why didn't I take your advice?  I couldn't help but look, and now I think I'll skip breakfast!  :P

It looks kind of expensive.  I've never detoxed, but I've always been curious about it.  I wouldn't mind finding out more about other, more affordable ways to detox.  The fiber part of that program is easy to get without taking a pill.  Pranabelly, or anyone else, do you have any favorite detox programs?

I did a seven day fast/cleanse once - not this brand of products, but something similar. It was greuling enough that I've never done another one.Yes, you expell some very weird stuff. I do remember my skin & hair being ultra-soft afterwards, but other than that, I think I do better with regualr exercise & a fiber drink every day.

I haven't tried detoxing yet. I bought a used copy of The Great American Detox Diet, but haven't started the plan:

I have done this program and yes its pretty gross. But because I am a vegan and have been for so long I really did not get anything crazy like the pictures you see on the site. Its was a great cleanse but I think a little too long. A good 2 weeks is fine. The fiber stuff tastes awful but you get used to it after awhile. I have seen many similar products in heath food stores too. Good old fashion fasting should do the trick too. Good luck!

JW, do you ever think the stuff you expel...is the stuff they give you to injest?  Hence such dramatic results?  I would love to see a doctor investigate this kind of stuff, since I'd like to do a detox program too, but so many just seem a little crazy for me.

Haha!  That's a great theory!  Remember those capsules that you could play with in the bath, that would dissolve and grow into a dinosaur or something?  Maybe the "fiber" capsules just have a giant foam worm inside!

My brother-in-law is a physician and when I was interested in this a few months ago, I asked him about it.  His response was that it isn't necessary.  Unless there is something physically wrong with you, you don't need to engage in this kind of activity.

Remember, the SAD is full of meat, dairy, junk food and other crap.  Most Americans don't eat healthfully--very little fiber, vitamins, fruits and vegetables.  Many people literally can't eliminate because they eat so poorly.  No wonder when they go on these detox cleanses they expel all that crap.

Chances are that your diet is already so good that you wouldn't produce the same quantity or quality as in those pictures.  And if you're going to go through all that misery (cramping, running to the toilet, denial of eating real food) don't you want pictures that "pretty" too?

Stars is right.  Back in the 50's, people took TAPEWORM pills to lose weight and then de-wormed themselves after they'd reached their goal weight!  Who knows what's actually in that Colonix cleanse plan!  And of course we all know the FDA isn't actually regulating anymore.  Case in point, the debacle that was Menu Foods.

Good luck!

;) Sorry I'm such a cynic, but yeah, you do wonder.  I refuse to believe that naturally, and with a good diet, the body God gave me is not functioning properly without some commercial product.

I've also noticed, when reading Raw Food detoxing blogs, message boards, etc, that the only people that seem to sh*t up worms are those on the raw foods/detox diets...they say that they were getting them out of their system, that they were there digesting some other substance, etc...but...quite simply, that's not how a healthy colon works.

I also found this:
http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/detox.html

"It can be terrifying to believe that one's body is being poisoned by toxins from within. But if this were true, the human race would not have survived, says Vincent F. Cordaro, M.D., an FDA medical officer. "A person who retained wastes and toxins would be very ill and could die if not treated. The whole concept is irrational and unscientific."

They have related links as well.

I'm in grad school for drug/alcohol counseling, and detox from any addictive substance, be it sugar (the number 1 most addictive drug!) or heroin, simply takes time.  A simple detox from an addictive substance does not take anything special nor produce a knotted up pantyhose expelled from your ass.

i, for one, am a believer because i have done this before.

the "knotted up panty hose" is that shape because that is the shape of the colon.  it is like you are removing the insulation from the inside of an electrical cable (for lack of a better analogy), the insulation that should not have been there.

i agree, if we were eating the natural diet that God intended (Gen 1:29), we would not need this.  but since most of us don't, what we do eat is not easily digested and/or turns into paste (white flour, etc) and is very sticky.  it sticks and hardens to the inside of the colon and after a while, the inside coating is such that it inhibits the natural wave-like motions (peristalsis) that move things along in the bowels.  so the problem compounds, and the colon is not able to perform effectively.  i have done a lot of reading on alternative and natural cures, and the consensus is that the power of our immune system is in the intestings, and disease begins in the colon.

i have to say that i am not surprised that a physician would say that we don't need to cleanse.  he is probably more likely to write a prescription for all of the problems that a "clogged" colon would cause, and then treat us for all of the problems that the medication causes, and eventually treat us for colon cancer.  just my opinion.

I totally agree with Fiona. No disrespect to your BIL Cates but most physicians are not well trained in this area. And unless you have been vegan all of your life there is probably still a lot of crud stuck to the inside of your colon. Also you don't have to go raw to do  a parasite cleanse. Almost everyone has picked up parasites in their life it's just a fact.

And stars if you are in school for drug rehab you should know that withdraw from drugs is not just about time. These things can stay in the body for decades in the deep fascia layers between the bones and muscles.

I have never used this product but I do believe a healthy clean colon is were health and vitality spring from.

DETOX from a drug (that is, the first stage of recovery from an additive substance) simply takes time.  I never said all there was to recovery was time.  Yes, there can be permanent brain damage, and some drugs might be able to stay in the body for some time (not all of them and not very much) but for detox you need nothing ‘special.’

I can’t argue personal experience and if you believe this helps, okay, maybe it does for you. We can agree to disagree.  I am choosing to believe that normal colons behave like they should, and if there really were all these toxins in them, we wouldn't survive.

I know I was being flip, but in all honestly, it's not about alternative medicine v. traditional medicine, but simply less medicine and more healthy lifestyles.  There is just no 'magic bullet' whether it's Ritalin or colonix.  Some of the biggest medical mistakes have occurred this way- let’s give you Thalidomide for morning sickness, let’s give you cocaine to cure you of your alcoholism….it’s been seen over and over again, time and healthy habits is what keeps people clean.  It’s the one thing nobody wants to hear.

I believe that everyone has made wonderful points..

We all have to decide how we choose to cleanse our bodies, whether it be fasting, colonix, or eating habits.

I've always been a skeptic when it comes to cleansing programs but the only way I'll know if any work is to try them...not saying I'll start going on a cleansing frenzy or anything :P.

The Colonix Site does offer a 100% Money Back Gaurantee if you're not satisfied so I'm gonna try it and believe you me I will get my money back if I'm not 100% Satisfied (what does that mean anyways?)

Thanks Everyone for the Comments!!!!

I don't think it necessarily does harm.  But like fasting, there's no "proof" that it works.  Just what people say.

There's a lot we can do for a healthy colon, and having a healthy colon is very important,  such as drink lots of pure water, and eat colon friend foods like green leafys, and probiodics (Silk makes a good vegan shake called "Alive").

I'm certainly not going to discount the testimony of people who say it makes them feel better.  Because I know what makes me feel better isn't always backed by scientific proof either.  But I'm not going to blow off the modern day MD either.  Because the truth of the matter is, especially us veg*ns, don't have to worry about clogged colons.

I've seen pictures of the colonoscopies that my patients sometimes have to go through to look for GI bleeds, or other problems and for the most part their colons are nice and clean, and most of them aren't vegetarians.  Men over 50 get sigmoidoscopies routinely and you never hear them coming back saying "my colon lining is bad and closed with panty-hose like stuff".

Live and let live.  To each their own.  If it feels good, then do it.  But I'm going to pass.  :)

Ewwwwwwwwwww.

I don't think that I would do this program. I don't have any of the problems that this stuff is supposed to cure (except for the parasites maybe - human beings are pretty much walking ecosystems, after all), and it's a little pricey.

People's fascination with cleaning and purification activities is interesting. Seems to be a universal thing too - every country has some cleansing ritual or another. Makes you wonder what the root of that sort of thinking is.

haha, I dont know what I was expecting when you guys were all saying how gross the pictures were....but I see worse stuff than that EVERYDAY! I work in a nursing home, as a CNA. NBD. But I was wondering if this colon cleanse is vegan, also was wondering if there are any people who took the things they expelled to a doctor or a lab to have it tested....Do people yeaild similar results with stuff that doesnt come in a pacage with an endorsment?

I've been following this thread and I have a question.  We absorb nutrients in our small intestine, correct?  So all the large intestine is doing is absorbing the last of the water and vitamins and is acting like a trash shoot for the rest of it.

I should have paid closer attention in school, so I may embarrass myself here, BUT - don't we have hundreds of types of bacteria in our colons?  Some bacteria are good and they synthesize vitamins (I think) and other bacteria are bad and it's the pantyhose lining that protect us against the bad bacteria?  I only remembered this stuff long enough in school to pass the test.  If I'm remotely correct, I don't think it's a good idea to remove the force field protective lining and expose your body to an attack by the bad bacteria.

I took colonix earlier this year. I didn't like it at all.

I took it because I was interested in the detoxification benefits. But it made me really constipated. I also had really bad headaches whenever I took the Colonix. It was really uncomfortable. I called the colonix customer service, and they were really understanding. They basically told me to cut down on the fiber and steep the tea for longer. I did this, and it didn't really help. I was constantly bloated and getting cramps. I ended up talking to the same person at Dr. Natura on three different occasions, and she told me to try this & try that. Nothing helped. The headaches were constantly there. I only had five bowel movements in the 19 days I was on it. The cramps were painful.

I ended up quitting and getting a refund. Afterwards, I surfed around some other forums and read some reviews, and it turns out that there are alot of people out there complaining of these side effects.  I was really surprised there were so many people getting refunds because of the side effects.

I wouldn't recommend Colonix. I never tried any other products...  Colonix kinda ruined the idea of colon cleansing for me. My belief is that if you eat an abundance of fruits & veggies, and drink water throughout the day, then you will have a clean and healthy colon. You don't need these concoctions of herbs, like colonix.

waste of money, if you ask me.
