Being Vegan and Acne?

Dear Fellow Vegani and Vegetarian warriors!

I have been a vegetarian since October now. I have had clear skin before (i did have acne back in middle school). But ever since I've changed my diet my skin has been horrible! I have been getting break outs and I am getting very discouraged. My parents tell me its because I am not getting enough "animal fat" or whatever... They say that it's because I removed meat from my diet. I really REALLy don't want to go back to eating meat, but my skin is really discouraging me as well.

Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? If so, how did you resolve it? I don't know what to do, and going back to being an omnivore is the last of my desires... please help!!! :-\

last week i had a horrible break out for no reason and then stumbled upon this website

www.earthclinic.com

i have been trying some of their recipes/suggestions and it has been working great! i started using the apple cider vinegar and water mixture and notice a difference with oil and redness/tone. i have also read that mixing 1 tsp cinnamon with 1 tsp lemon juice with dry up pimples but have not tried it at all.

On milky info there's a part on acne and milk (not too well sourced).

There's also a (much more sourced) general milk based document.

I really like tea tree oil. I dilute it to 5-8%, depending on what my skin is looking like, and I put it on every night before bed. It's really helped.

I've read things about carrot juice helping acne clear up.  I don't think it's necessary to have it as a juice, you could probably just eat a lot more carrots.  That's what I do, and it seems to work for me... I've always struggled with acne.  When I went raw, my acne cleared right up, and I'm pretty sure it's because I was eating so many carrots.  I stopped the raw thing, but still eat plenty of carrots everyday, so my skin hasn't really acted up again :)

I swear by acne.org products. I've had acne long before my (current) 6 year run as a vegetarian, and I haven't found anything that works better or is more gentle for my skin. Their products are not animal tested or animal derived. They say cruelty-free on the website and I contacted them to make sure.

good to know!  a friend suggested I try their products... good to have a second opinion backing it up. I'll have to check that out.
