Couch to 5K
I know a few of us are currently doing this, and some have done it before.
I started it a few weeks ago just to get back into regularly doing SOMETHING. I have done some running off and on for years, but I want to be indefinitely consistent with it. The first few weeks were really easy, but I liked the gradual beginning, and seeing some progression. It stresses to not do more, so I stuck with that. I'm currently on week 4, day 3. There is a bit of a jump from W3 to W4, but I'm still good. The last running "program" I did increased a mile a week, basically..and that got old fast. I'm hoping this way, I can stick with it! I'm still looking forward to runs, and I have seen some more tone in my legs. I also like running based on a set time, because I tend to get too caught up in how fast (SLOW) I'm going, and trying to go faster makes me not run as long.
so totally late on the bandwagon here, but I am now finally on it!!
I downloaded the podcast last week and started C25K on Wednesday this week. I did W1D1 on Weds and W1D2 on Thursday (yeah I know you're supposed to have a days rest in between but whatever, I'm a rebel!). I plan on doing W1D3 on Monday or Tuesday.
I really like the podcast music (I downloaded the Robert Ullrey podcast) - really good workout music and he give nice little encouragements at times, but not too much.
Day 1 was easy and I was like 'yeah i can do this'...then the next day was tough, and I realised how crap I am at running! But I can do this, and I plan on sticking with it, although maybe not 3 times per week as I still want to fit in spin classes in my workout routine.
so I have now completed W1 & W2 and done W3D1. I am proud I have managed it and in terms of fitness / muscles it''s not been too bad.
BUT I think I may have bruised my bones or something (not sure if that's actually possible but whatevs!). Seriously after doing the running the insides of my knees are really sore and it has been even hurting when I have been walking upstairs or walking on the flat for any distance!
I have had to take a break because we're going on a 4 day hike next week and I don't want to risk having sore knees before we've even started!
I think when I get back I'll ease back into the C25K by doing one W1, one W2 and then starting again on W3.
say, that 10k thing looks interesting... if only i were more motivated.
did you get to a 10k, AC?
also, i <3 my vibrams. no tendinitis since i started wearing them!

yay for vibrams! Do yours stink? Mine don't stink at all now, compared to P's (but they do actually stink).
No....I over trained that one time, then never got back into it. : \ I've said I was going to run every day this weekend, but never did. I really want to tomorrow! I miss couch to 5k days. I loved that little plan.
haha, yeah mine smell sometimes. i find washing them with body wash works better than a washing machine.

Sounds like runners knee. Elevate and ice after runs. As muscles get used to running and stronger, the problem should go away.
