I was searching around for info after considering getting a B12 supplement and came across this:
http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitaminb12.asp

It's actually pretty veg-friendly--I was impressed!

In any event, it has some good general info for people who are just entering the veg*n realm. Thought I'd pass it along :)

On another note, I was thinking of purchasing this supplement:

Anyone here take it? That seems like an excessive amount of B12--is it just because it's not easily absorbed so they put in more so you get 100%? From what I've read, excessive B12 isn't seen as dangerous, so maybe it's OK...

don't know answer to your quest. but I heard many times that sublingual B 12 is the best. You put it under your tongue and it dissolves where it is absorbed instantly where pills (I heard) from B 12 don't get absorbed as well.

I take a store brand that's a raspberry flavor that dissolves in your mouth. Doesn't taste bad and is vegan.

B12 has no known toxicity level, so it's completely fine in large amounts. B12 isn't absorbed very fast and I heard that it is actually absorbed in your mouth more than your stomach or intestine, but that sounds kind of funky to me because the mouth is not designed to absorb but more to pre-digest food, but who knows.

I have tried sublingual (under your tongue) B12 supplements and they were tasty and easy to take and not all too expensive. Right now I'm taking a liquid B12/folic acid supplement, which is sweetened with stevia. It's also pretty tasty and it's the cheapest they have at my local co-op, so that's what I buy.

You heard right. This is the exact info. I got from my naturopath. I have always taken the tablet form of B12 until I got the sublingual drops recently.
