1 Bag at a Time... Reusable Grocery Bags

Has anyone ever bought these??

https://www.1bagatatime.com/index.php?page=misc&section=home

I am in love! :D Well, I actually just ordered some (10 for $19.90) & have yet to receive them, but I am so excited! I always use paper bags at the grocery store, and I reuse those (when I remember... :-\), but I had no idea that even paper bags are so detrimental to the environment!

I absolutely cannot wait to get these reusable bags! And the price isn't even bad at all! I've seen bags like this in grocery stores before for like $14 EACH! :o So I just wanted to pass the word on, in case anyone else is interested!

i've become an avid collector of conferance totes. i need to get better about taking them to the store with me.

I second the conference tote thing--the key is to wander around near the end of the conference and they'll likely let you take a bunch since they'll have to get rid of them anyway  :) . All of my grocery bags came from the AAAS conference...I think I took 6 or 7 and they are the best! I love the slightly longer handles so I can put groceries on my shoulder and carry in my hands--only one trip from the car!

the produce I always get is soaking wet! particularly the leafy stuff... the plastic keeps it inside--away from everything else...

I just turn them inside out and hang them to dry. I can usually get a few uses out of my produce bags before they go in the garbage. If any thing rots in them then I give up.

I've been using the onebag at a time bags for about a year now. I love them them and have reordered several times.

I use them as gift bags. They end up being as cheap or cheaper than the pricey Hallmark variety. ;)

Oh my gosh!! That is a terrific idea! I've been wondering how to get my family to convert to reusable and this is a great way to get the point across to them....one present at a time!

Whoa!! No kidding! Per bag, they're not expensive at all, and it would be a great addition to the gift itself, as well as a non-pushy way to encourage others to start using reusable bags! :) Thanks for the tip!!

Re: produce bags - you can use mesh bags instead. The mesh ones don't weigh anything (like plastic), and are reusable. Those are available online too, somewhere, I am sure. Or you can make some if you have basic sewing skills.

Found some! :)  I'm going to order some...

I personally use my backpack for grocery shopping.  Makes it easier to ride my town-bike to and from the grocery store.

I was pet-sitting this summer and when the owner came back, she brought one of the best gifts I received - a reusable bag that folds into itself so you can stick it in your purse. That way I always have it with me and won't leave it in the car!

I also like that Whole Foods will give you a 5-cent discount when you bring your own bag. Every little bit counts. :)

I always use a big backpack and there is ALWAYS an embarrassing moment where the bagger is trying to help me zip it up and I'm holding up the line!

Hehehe....not to mention the security guards are always checking me out  and other customers stare as I stuff frozen edamame into the side pockets.  ;D

i tend to use my trader Joe's bag for everything...but i might order  a few of these...maybe give them out as gifts at that price...?
I don't use produce bags either unless I'm buying a large quantity or something with lots of tiny bits- everything just sort of free-flows in my cart. I don't mind the money-handling hands touching my produce since I wash it all when I get home anyways.

guys, what can I do about the produce bags I use? I get a large variety of produce and use about 6 of those suckers every time I grocery shop....seems counter intuitive when I'm using my nice canvas bag...

I don't use produce bags.  I just let everything be free in the cart. :D  Seems to work fine.

I got my 1 Bag at a Time bags this week.  10, rainbow pack.  ;D  I put a couple out and told my roommates they can use them.  They were all excited, not because of how much it will help the environment, but that they won't rip and we will be able to reduce the damn mountain of plastic bags sitting on our kitchen table.  (Theirs, not mine of course...)  Hey, whatever works!

I'm so excited to use mine today at Wild Oats and tomorrow at the farmer's market!  ;)  Thanks for the suggestion!

Of course! I am happy to spread the word! ;) I got my pack the other day & loooooooooooooove them! :D They're a little thinner and, hmmm... "gauzier" than I thought they'd be, but they are very sturdy & I like that they are lightweight. I haven't been grocery shopping with mine yet, but I've been bringing my lunch to work in them all week! I can't wait to go to the farmers market tomorrow & fill those bags up! :)

I have one bag at a time bags.
Somehow I poked a hole in one of mine and they still work perfectly! The hole didn't get bigger I mean.
Also, they are fuzzy-ish from being used so much, it's not even ugly, I can just tell they're not "new" anymore.
BEST PART: I (and the baggers at the store) LOVE how they stand up like paper bags for packing/unpacking purposes! Cloth totes don't do that. :(

and I get compliments EVERY time I shop.  :)

Ani Phyo suggested using produce bags to cover dishes in the fridge instead of cling wrap or foil.  Good idea!

I went to WF today and got suckered into buying another bag...
it's PINK and some of the proceeds go to breast cancer organizations. (not sure exactly)

But it was pink and I liked it, so *sigh* now I have three red TJ's and one pink WF.

I love them.

Yeah, I've had my oldest ones for well over a year now and they still hold up fabulously. Last week at the farmers market I had one loaded down with three pie pumpkins and two huge acorn squash. I thought for sure it wouldn't hold but it can out fine.

Yay!  I love my bags!  I was able to fit so much stuff in there!  The handles are the perfect size so you can carry them over your shoulder and nothing falls out.  I was also fully expecting them to dump over in my trunk, but they didn't!  WOOOOO!

The cashier was jealously eying them too.  ;D  (I never knew eye-ing was spelled eying!)

My brother got me a little backpack that folds up to the size of a small wallet.  I always keep it in my purse too.  I am so in love with it, I show it to cashiers all the time.  I went to the farmers market a couple weeks ago and pulled it out and I go "check THIS out!" to the guy.  I pulled it out and he did this ---> ???

;D  You guys would have been way more impressed.  :D

LMAO! :D

Girl, don't sweat it. You know we got your back. I happen to be fascinated by stuff like that. Anything with hidden and/or multiple compartments excites me. I have a Chico Bag that folds into itself and is as small as my cellphone. I'm always whipping it out. :)

Does anyone know how long it takes for the bags to be delivered? I ordered 10 bags on Sept 15 and they haven't arrived yet.

Hey!  Didn't it take you forever to get your Diva?  (Has that come yet??)  Cheezees...be honest...did you forget to tip your mailman at Christmas?  ;)  Just kidding.  I think you should probably get it soon, mine took about a week and a half-2 weeks.
