1 Bag at a Time... Reusable Grocery Bags

Has anyone ever bought these??

https://www.1bagatatime.com/index.php?page=misc&section=home

I am in love! :D Well, I actually just ordered some (10 for $19.90) & have yet to receive them, but I am so excited! I always use paper bags at the grocery store, and I reuse those (when I remember... :-\), but I had no idea that even paper bags are so detrimental to the environment!

I absolutely cannot wait to get these reusable bags! And the price isn't even bad at all! I've seen bags like this in grocery stores before for like $14 EACH! :o So I just wanted to pass the word on, in case anyone else is interested!

they can make plastic bags from corn instead of petroleum, my local hippy vegan store said they used to carry them...but the melting point was alot lower than regular plastic...so "people complained"

they also make plastic utensils out of corn

Does anyone know how long it takes for the bags to be delivered? I ordered 10 bags on Sept 15 and they haven't arrived yet.

I think mine took about 7 business days to get to me... Hopefully you'll get them on Monday!!

I used one of my bags at the farmers' market today, and it held a lot of weight, but still felt comfortable on my shoulder! :) I love these bags!

Hey!  Didn't it take you forever to get your Diva?  (Has that come yet??)  Cheezees...be honest...did you forget to tip your mailman at Christmas?  ;)  Just kidding.  I think you should probably get it soon, mine took about a week and a half-2 weeks.

That's me!  :D Only I just moved here in March so the postman doesn't know me yet. Maybe he's anticipating no tip ...lol. With the diva cup I paid for direct shipping and of course Fedex delivered the package 3 times around 9am when I wasn't home so now I have to go collect it. But my ABC cookies got here pronto so I know it ain't me.  :P Oh well.

It takes some people longer than others. It all depends on when the y get there shipments in from their suppliers and how many orders they have going. It took me a month to get mine.

I have some of these http://www.reusablebags.com/store/acme-bags-workhorse-style-1500-p-1.html because they're really easy to have on hand.  I keep one in my purse and the rest in my glove compartment (I know, it's hilarious that I'm driving around in a car trying to save the planet).  I haven't gotten any produce bags yet because I haven't found any I think would work.  I don't put my produce in bags, though, unless it's extremely wet or leafy and falling apart everywhere.  I mostly use them  for bulk stuff, and I don't know how some of the reusable produce bags would hold up to, say, flour?

Oh!  I brought some regular plastic grocery bags (my roommates have a mountain of them) to the farmer's market yesterday and used them as produce bags!  The farmer's market didn't mind at all, but regular stores might have an issue.  ;)

I haven't had a problem using them at regular stores. They give you a funny look but don't really mind.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I rarely use plastic bags for produce (except for the reasons you mentioned--super wet, etc.), but I use them for my bulk products, like nuts, oatmeal, nutritional yeast, etc. I try to reuse them as much as I can... It still sucks to have to use plastic, but I'll just save my empty nutritional yeast bag until the next time I buy nutritional yeast; same with oatmeal & all my other bulk goodies. At least this way it's reducing my impact a little bit...

do your stores let you bring in clean containers to put stuff in? my co-op does that and weighs them for you so you can subtract out the container weight.

You know, I have thought about this a bunch of times & have always felt like it was dumb of me to ask... ::) I'm going to see if my co-op will do this!! Thanks for the suggestion!

I wish I had a good coop here.  I just moved to Dallas, and so far, Sprouts is the best store we've found here.  That and a farmer's market, which is real limited.

That's a great idea, though.  I've never asked, but I will.  If nothing else, it'll make a teenager's day a little more interesting.
