How much do you spend on a handbag?

I was just watching Martha Steward and she was showing designer handbags that cost anywhere from $200 to $1599!!! :o I know the "rich" think nothing of throwing a few thousand dollars on a purse but I don't think the ordinary working person should feel any less a complete person  because they don't have the "right" bag on their arm. It seems the trend in handbags is big, bigger and biggest , both in size and price but I like a smaller bag with lots of storage places for cards, phone, cash, etc. I draw the line, though, at spending what I consider an immoral amount of money on a purse. (I'm not trying to get a debate going a morality issue, that's just my thought.)  I realize that normally a well-made handbag will cost more than $2.99, but $1500+....My last handbag cost $2.99. It's satin lined and quite vintage looking. I bought it at Value Village and think I got a great deal. What do you spend on a handbag and what are your thoughts on this?

Why the necro posts?!

If its not dated within the last few months is no longer an ongoing conversation.  Please do not drag up old topics unless you wish to post something vital to the topic or ask a question about the topic.

Thank you.

I didn't realize the date but I don't see anything wrong with commenting on an older post. If it's a problem, why not delete posts after they are old and inactive?

No one goes through and deletes old threads.  It's not necessary and it would be a nightmare of a chore.  But it IS confusing and annoying to the rest of the people who post when others bring back old conversations.

If you want to talk about something, start a new thread!  It's just kind of an understood forum etiquette.  You'll get fresher responses anyway.

The problem with resurrecting a post from two years or six months ago is that it is no longer topical.  Unless you have something vital to add to the topic or a direct question that was created or perhaps not discussed at length.  You dredge up an old topic that has perhaps very few current forum members' posts in it, thus everyone who had not responded now feels the need to.  Which if they respond to the first post, perhaps to a person no longer a member of the community, it is pointless.  Old posts are great to research, which is why they should not be deleted, but bumping a topic to the top of the forum without something vital to add or update is never a good idea.

As KMK said its generally understood forum netiquette but sometimes it happens.  I would just rather note that a post has been brought back from the dead to let others know than to have six added pages talking to an original poster that perhaps no longer even cares about this topic any more.

I wont buy designer handbags unless I can find them at an unbelievably good price. I came across one recently. A Brighton handbag for $70. I thought it was a great deal, so I went for it. It holds everything I need it to, and it's been durable for me. A good investment in my book.
