I found a vegan cheese I like!!!!

Yes, as the topic says. I did, I did! I tried many brands before, and hated all of them. But I decided to take the plunge once again and try two more. I tried vegan rella .... gross. What a waste of money. It tasted like raw tofu with no flavor (there's $5 in the garbage :( ) .... ick. BUT I read on here about "Follow Your Heart" brand .... Awsome! I got the chedder. Tastes just like chedder  :D Now I wanna try the other flavors. I'm HOOKED! Thanks Vegweb :)

That's great for you!  If you like the FYH cheddar, definitely try the monterey jack and mozzarella.  Those 2 are my favorite of the 4 (nacho is the other choice).  If you have issues with the "cheese" melting on the top of stuff, either kick the heat up to about 450 F for a few minutes at the end, or place under the broiler for a minute or 2 at the end.

Yummm...  Congrats on your new find!  I'm with Wilwolf... try the mozzarella and the monterey jack.  Sooo good.  I seem to have to cook it at 450 degrees AND broil it, but then again I always use an entire block on whatever I'm making (casseroles, pizza, etc.)  Unfortunately, you'll start putting it on everything and finding excuses to use it!  (If only it were lower in fat yet still just as yummy!!)  ;)

I was going to say, I could not get it to melt on my vegan pizza I made last week.
Will turning the heat up burn the crust, say, if I were to make another pizza?  :P

Hi Meggs... I make pizza all the time using FYH mozzarella.  Here's what I do:  Pre-heat the oven with the pizza stone inside to 500 degrees, then slide the prepared pizza onto the stone, cook for 5 minutes, ROTATE the pizza, cook another 2-3 minutes, then HI-BROIL the pizza 2 minutes.  It should be sizzling and melted at that point, but if not, turn it back down to 500 and check on it another minute.  My crust comes out crispy, but never burnt.  It definitely requires 10 minutes of babysitting but it's SOOO worth it!  (Now I want pizza!!)  Good luck!!  :)

I'm sorry to say but I didn't have the same success with the Follow Your Heart Cheddar. It was a softer cheese, not nearly as sharp and flavorful as I like it.

I also had a difficult time getting it to melt when I attempted a grilled cheese sandwich. Then it went bad and I had to toss like half of it out. I was disappointed.

I really like the FYH mozzarella and the jack style too.  I've used them successfully in vegan pizza, lasagna, enchiladas, and casseroles.  Like everyone has said, just stick your dish under the broiler for a couple minutes before serving.

I thought the FYH cheddar was really gross, though.  It was bright orange and smelled disgusting.  I tried using it anyway hoping it would cook up nicely, but it was really bad.

The nacho is way lower than the other flavors in fat and calories.   ???
I say what the hell and use it just like I'd use the mozzarella.  Trans-continental lasagna, anyone?  ;D

Oooh... I didn't know that!  Maybe I'll try that for my Mexican casseroles and enchiladas!  Thanks!  :)

I did have an issue with it melting, also. I put my vegan pizza in the broiler and the microwave to get it to melt. But it still tasted good.

Thanks for the suggestions all .... about the monterey jack and mozzarella, that is. I'm DEFINITELY buying those next shopping trip.
