Makeup

Just a curiousity I had - how many of you wear makeup? Any tips? Do you do the full regime or maybe just some shadow and gloss? What do you use?

I fall in the "Sometimes" category. I used to do eye shadow and lipstick everyday, but I've fallen out of the routine and now just occassionally put on some shadow or maybe a little foundation if I'm not liking a zit that day. ;D I've pretty much foregone lipstick or gloss though unless I just wanna make a nice first appearance, because it ALWAYS wears off after a couple hours even without drinking or eating, and it's just not worth it to me to put it on repeatedly. Plus, it usually feels gummy and weird and I keep smacking my lips, hee hee.

I might put on a little base or lip gloss, but that is generally it.  I usually only do full makeup when I travel for meetings, but fortunately that isn't very often.

I used to do the whole regime (shadow, foundation, blush, mascara, powder), but now I just wear dabs of foundation when I have zits that look nasty and I throw on some mineral-based powder to cut down the shine from my sunscreen. Sometimes I'll throw on some gloss if I'm feeling fancy  ;D Also, I curl my eyelashes, but usually only remember to do this when I wear my glasses that day because my lashes brush up against the lenses and that's annoying. I found that when I moved to the hotness of AZ, makeup just felt yucky.

I just do eyeliner, eyebrow pencil, and lipstick for everyday.  I hate wearing foundation- especially in heat!  I'm transitioning to all natural, vegan, non animal tested cosmetics and feel much better about using makeup.

I do the full makeup thing everyday for work. For me this is, powder to get rid of the shine on my nose & forehead, curl eyelashes, eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss. Sometimes I'll wear eyeshadow or a fancier lipstick/lipgloss if I have something special going on that day or am going out at night. Today I tried pyshicians formula lip plumper gloss & I really like it.

I don't wear any makeup - I look like a clown when I try to put it on  8) I wish I had a sister or someone to teach me how to use it! I don't even know what my "undertones" are...I've tried to figure it out, but can't...I must need makeup for dummies or something LOL

I never wear makeup at home, but if I have a meeting with clients I usually do the whole nine yards...mineral foundation, blush (if the rosacea isn't acting up), brown eyeshadow, brown eyeliner on top, black mascara, wine colored lip balm (the whole 'process' takes less than 5 minutes).

I'm in the middle of a new skin treatment program through my dermatologist and my face looks pretty sh*tty right now, but theoretically when the treatment is complete, I will be able to get by with just the eye makeup and lip balm.

I also use mineral makeup.  What new skin treatment are you currently undergoing? I'd love to just to be able to wear eyeshadow and lip balm but I still breakout sometimes and my skin tone is uneven.

I never really wore makeup that much and only used it if was a special occasion and even then it was only eyeshadow, liner and mascara.  I never used foundation (I'm so pale that it looked fake...the price of having English/Russian ancestors..lol), blush or lipstick.  Now it's only liner and only that to work.

i'm rarely seen without makeup. i only wear foundation and powder though, i dont wear mascara or lipstick or blush or eyeshadow. its too much for me i think. and i hate mascara anyway. i wore it once for a dance and i was picking it out of my eyelashes for almost a week after.

the only time im not wearing make up is if i just got out of the shower. but if my BF comes over or anything, i have to put it on. i feel gross without it on.

I feel "gross" with it on.  Or maybe it's just laziness because I don't like taking the time to clean it off before going to bed.  ::)  When I'm tired the only thing I want to do is fall in bed.

Veggeroni - that was me!!! My mom never taught me things like cooking, makeup, how to walk in heels (she focused on more important things : )

Anyway, at work, I feel that make-up is suitable to big meetings and helps me appear more professional, so I've learned how to wear it. The learning though, took about two years. I checked out books from the library, asked coworkers, cousins, etc. I even purchased the occasional girly magazine.....then a few weeks ago, a younger coworker said, "Your eye makeup is always so nice, can you show me how to do it?" I was flabbergasted! And psyched by the compliment. So, if it's something you want to learn - that's how I would suggest it.

For those that do wear it, what are your favorite brands?

This is exactly how I feel.  I wore makeup on my wedding day.  I wore makeup when I was in the bridal party for my brother's wedding.  I used to play violin, and I would wear makeup when I had a solo performance.  Someone else always put it on for me. That's about it.  I've tried a couple times myself, but I always think I look clownish and wash the makeup off.

So I've just resigned myself to the idea that it is a waste of time and money :)

The bonus to wearing makeup to work all the time is if you come in without anyone, everything thinks you look tired or sick, so they don't give you a hard time if you call out sick the next day!!!

On the flip side, if someone is used to seeing you without any on (ie my running club friends) They say how nice you look when they see you wearing it!

I usually wear a bit of powder to help with the shine (STILL at 44!!!!) and a tiny bit of eyeliner stick on top and a bit of lip color (Logona makes some great lip crayons, natural colors). That's it. I have never worn foundation in ages and only tried it once or twice, feels totally gross and I don't like how it looks. If it is a really special event I might wear mascara  ;)

I don't wear it at all.

I don't wear any.  I have a friend who gets up an hour early to do her make-up, which amazes me.  I tried the lipstick, eyeliner and mascara thing and it just didn't  work.  I touch my face too much. Lipstick fades to quickly, I don't want to be re-applying all day.  Guess I'm lazy....

Go to veganessentials.com and check out their cosmetic items.  I know Ecco Bella is one.

I didn't wear any for a decade, but just got into it again.  (For me, lip balm is a neccesity of life - not makeup.)  I use four mineral eyeshadows.  Staying just with eyeshadow means it take 75 seconds to apply.  No foundation or mascara or anything.  It's part of a new goal to become a metrosexual - except that I'm female.  I'm so unaware of style.

Some of my coworkers don't think I wear makeup, so I guess it's a light application.  I'd be more likely to not wear makeup to a big meeting.  Our human resources manager called me a non-conformist.  I'd agree... anything to challenge preconceived notions about how things should be.

My biggest gripe is that the majority of my friends over the years have been male, so I have no idea how to fix my hair.  It's straight, so I just let it grow and when I'm tired of it I cut it off at my jawline and donate it to Locks of Love.  I'd love to know how to style it - not with chemicals 'n stuff, but with hair clips or something.

I don't wear makeup most days, but I love it. (^_^)d
Application is fun for me... an extension of my attraction to art & painting. I used to do makeup, professionally, for casts of theater groups and haunted houses, etc. I have done nearly all of my friends' makeup, my sister's for the wedding, and have put makeup on all of my lovers, at some point, (including men  :D).

Since I only wear it randomly, and have as many products and colors as tubes of paint and tools, I have had some of my stuff for years. I really like MAC cosmetics (particularly Mac pro). It is extremely high grade and has a high color concentration. You can get many looks with one pigment because they work equally well wet (very concentrated or as a wash) and dry. They are also, most often, true to the color you see in the pot/jar.
They do not test on animals. Not all products are vegan, but you can write them and they will confirm which of their products are.

I also like Urban Decay. On their site, all products with a little puppy paw beside them are vegan.

I would love to only use products from all vegan companies, but I haven't found any that work for me, yet. Suggestions?
(Also, I get my vegan food from HFS and other Grocery stores that don't sell only vegan, because nothing like that exists (here).)

For those who like red lipstick,... my long search for one that does not use Carmine (crushed beetle) has finally led me to Ecco Bella in Primrose, Gabriel lipstick in Pomegranate, and ZuZU lipsticks apparently have a few good shades of red too (like Luxe in Starlet). I haven't personally tried any of these yet, because I don't often wear red l/s and am still digging color out of my tubes of R.I.P. or discontinued products from over 2 yrs ago (before I found out about carmine).

Girliness is in the eye of the beholder.  ;)

Just another quote from me that makes me wonder if I am on crack. I think I have crack-somnia (kind of like sex-somnia). I do crack in my sleep. I just don't remember it when I wake up.

Anyway, back to the makeup discussion...

I HATED makeup when i was a teenager and actually remember getting in a big fight with my mom before my senior pictures were taken because i REFUSED to put it on.  She won though...such is the life when under control of your parents.

Anyway, as an "adult," I wear makeup to work and if I go out...my super-fast agenda usually includes mineral powder, maybe eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss.  I also really like Urban Decay.  Their eyeliner colors are a bit wild for my workplace, but I've found I really like the ZuZu eyeliner.  They've got a nice indigo shade that doesn't scream punk rocker but doesn't nicely lay down to corporate compromise, either.  Hard Candy has my absolute favorite lip gloss - Lip Sorbet in Cherry Love.  Not super bright red, but subtle reddish color and super glossy, just the way I like it.
