Natural, Vegan Friendly Cosmetics?

I'm a new vegan and want to live natural, especially when it comes to things that come in contact with me! I've been able to switch over most products with ease, but I've had trouble finding Vegan and Natural cosmetics without it costing me an arm and a leg. Any advice? Items you like?

I use BareEscentuals powders, and BWC mascara. I've also used BWC concealer, but wasn't happy with it, and it's really not necessary with the powders.

How about eyeliner?  I wear eyeliner religiously, but the only vegan ones I've seen cost like over $20.  Boooooo.

Yeah, I'm still on pregan eyeliner. I have NYC (I've seen they don't test on animals, but I dunno..)
From their website: "Our Values-N.Y.C. New York Color is committed to consumer safety, product quality and concern for animals. N.Y.C. New York Color products are NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS. "

However, I'm just using them up. I bought some in bulk, so I have several..I don't know about after that. I've always used liquid eyeliner.

eta: I have lots of eye shadows, too. So, I haven't purchased any specific vegan ones.

ac,  how did you choose your shade of bm?  My skin is light but with imperfections but no golden undertones...it is confusing!

Yeah, same, AC.  I have lots of pregan makeup.  Like, tons and tons.

I'm gonna check PPK.  They've had a bunch of threads about this.

;D I know!
Well, I regularly use the "light." I'm naturally fair skinned, and I have imperfections, and the light works well. I think the key is to "buff" it in, instead of just brushing it on. If you have lighter skin, I think the light would work. The fairly light didn't seem to give me enough coverage. I also have some golden medium that doesn't look bad, but I'm saving it for when I get a bit tanned. I have the mineral veil, too..but never use it. It's not necessary. I buy all of mine on eBay..a lot less expensive. The 9g is the big one, the 2 g is small. I also have one of the blushes, and I really like it.

thank you...I was leaning towards light so that sounds good.  : )

Oh, so BareMinerals is vegan?  Good to know!  I'm still using my old Clinique that I bought pregan (ugh) so I will get that next.  How much does it cost on ebay vs. from the company or whatever?

E.L.F.  products are endorsed by PETA if that means anything and they have super cheap awesome makeup...most things are vegan....they list the ingredients....the only thing I've seen thats not is the hand lotion....

Yeah! But, does anyone know if it's true that all of the bareescentuals makeup is vegan, and the only non vegan things are the brushes? I can't seem to find a definitive answer, but that's how I understand it. The bareescentuals site confuses me, but I think they sell the 2g (L)..for $25. eBay has both the 2g and the 9g (XL), and the 9g..which are SO much bigger....are around $20-30. I think I got two at the same time for like 30-40. They really do last a long time, though. Hm..plus there are like a billion .99 ones..I'm always careful about those, though.

Wait. Now, I'm more confused. Are bareminerals and bareescentuals the same thing?! I use bareescentuals...
Oh, I think bareescentuals is the name of the company...and they use bareminerals....... :o

everything I've gotten from ELF has been normal sized....I just got the mineral powders....I used to use BareMinerals....and the ELF minerals are just as good and only $3 for the same size ones you'd get from BareMinerals....such a bargain....I love ELF!
The Studio products are a few $$ more, but totally worth it.  My favorite mascara ever!

I was just about to come on here and start a thread about vegan make up and here one is!

For some reason make up was the one thing up until recently that I bought that was not always vegan - please don't ask me why because I really don't have any valid reason for this.  So over the past couple of years I have been gradually replacing all my non-vegan make up.

I have tried Beauty Without Cruelty concealer, but like AC I wasn't that impressed so I need to find another.  I definitely need concealer as I unfortunate to have dark bags under my eyes all the time.

I have just had a delivery of some elf products and I think that for the money they are really good.  I emailed them first to check which products were vegan and they were really prompt in reply and very helpful.
I tried their pressed powder (which was a bit darker than I expected), liquid eyeliner, which seems fine, and their eye shadows which are fine.  Verdict is that elf are really good for their money and I would use again.

I have also bought some Urban Decay stuff, which is really good, but quite pricey.  Their website states what's vegan and not (http://www.urbandecay.com/vegan.cfm).  I've only tried some eyeshadows but they are lovely.

Now I just need to find a decent vegan mascara....

following advice from another vegan site, I ordered Everyday Minerals online.  You can get a free sample of 3 powders(just pay $3 shipping) to help you match your color.  Everything is pretty cheap and works realy well

Waiiittttt wait wait wait wait.

I am on the E.L.F. website.  Many things look like they are a dollar.  What is wrong with this picture?

They used to have the ELF stuff at Target, and it was a dollar there too. I bought their powder and the waterproof/regular mascara duo. The powder was a little smaller, and so was the mascara but it was one of those double ended things so I guess that was to be expected. I liked them but when I went back they didn't have them anymore.

Okay, Like KMK wrote, everything seems to be 1,00$. Could it be a glitch with the site?

no, 1.00 is right. ive purchased a couple of their eyeshadows before and they're not bad at all.  i think they can be a little hard to come by at stores though.  definitely worth keeping an eye out for though.

I've pretty much tried everything on E.L.F., so if you have any questions about something, I probably have tried it....I'm addicted
