Soy curls

What's your favorite way to have soy curls? I just got some, and haven't used them before.

I don't even know what soy curls are....

I should probably use some in a seitan dish I've never made, because I don't often make seitan...

Weird.

I have no idea what I'd do with those.
Might have to order some.

Looks like I bought the last bag! VE is out of stock.  >:D You should probably wait until I try them, anyway.

I bought like an 8 pack of these... Bryanna Clark Grogan uses them in quite a few recipes on her blog... I typed Soy Curls into her search box at the top of the screen and here's what I got (there's quite a few pages)

I made this recipe of her's using soy curls... It was one of my BF's favorite meals that I have made so far

Ok, so she likes to use them in stir fry type things. Good to know! Thanks, amyz.

oh also bryanna says to keep them in the freezer so they don't go rancid... i'm assuming with one bag you will be using them rather quickly though

I'm sorry but I still don't know what the f**k soy curls are supposed to be.....even though I clicked on the link it came up all dark and wouldn't let me scroll through the page.

I would crap on soy curls.
(just coz I'm annoyed and can't figure them out!)

"An interesting new meat substitute, Soy Curls make an excellent addition to soups, casseroles, potatoes, rice, stir-fries, noodles, spaghetti sauce, chili, pizza toppings, salads, curries, enchiladas and more. With 10g of non-GMO soy protein per serving as well as 3 of fiber, Soy Curls add a hearty texture to your favorite dishes. Just soak for 10 minutes in warm water, season them to taste and you’ve got a tasty and healthy complement for your next meal. 8 oz. (227g) package makes approximately 1.5 lbs. of meat substitute when rehydrated. $4.29 per package"

I haven't had them yet, but it seems like they'll be like something in between seitan and TVP.

Are they soy protein isolates? I've never heard of them either, except I saw someone say yesterday that they put soy curls in their "chicken noodle soup" and I thought this was a funny sentence. :)

I want to try!

did you cook them?
I'm confused by the whole time difference so not sure if you've passed dinner time or not.  I wanna know what they were like!

I'm going to have them tonight! Haven't cooked them yet. I'm going to have then with the Koren bbq sauce recipe that veggy dog posted here: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=27072.0.
I'm going to rehydrate them, and then saute them alone. I read that if you just add them to something (after rehydrating), they get soggy. I think they are supposed to be firm and meaty. I'll let you know.

They are delish!!! I like them better than seitan I've had (which isn't saying toooo much), and most definitely a billion times better than TVP (which I don't really like). I rehydrated them in water, then stir fried them for maybe 15-20 minutes with some green beans. I got them good and crispy. Then, I added the Korean BBQ sauce (amazing), and broccoli. They are chewy, and firm. I really like them. I can see how they would be soggy if you didn't stir fry them first.

jealous!!

When you say you don't like TVP - is it the chunks you#ve had or the mince (what I guess you'd call crumbles)?

I've never had TVP and I'm not a fan of seitan.  Will I like these, my dear AC?

Have you ever had any of the MF (or whatever) strip style things? I guess they are kind of similar to those..but not really. They don't have any weird taste, and they are chewier. They are just like chewy, meatish strips. I don't see why a person wouldn't like them...  you have to make sure and crisp them up, though, darling.
