Oh no!!  I forgot about half priced fraps today! :( It was because I was having yummy vegan noms for lunch... so, fair trade I think.  I'm not that big a of a fan of cinnamon so I think I'll skip that one.  I work ALL day tomorrow, but will ask DH to visit between 3-5pm for a delivered frap. :)

I can't get enough of those Mocha Frappucinos.

A friend of mind gave me a good Frappucino tip. Ask for it blended twice so it's a little smoother and not as icey toward the end.

yeah, i forgot too. i got done with a test and made a beeline for home.

maybe sunday. if not, i'm satisfied with java chip as the winner.

Java chip is my fave. I got one today. Omnom. My only complaint is the mix of ice/chips getting stuck in the straw but I don't care because its yumm

Damn it! I am so jealous that you guys can get these everyday! I'm stuck at work now with a lunch break around 12 or 1 and off at 5! I always miss happy hour :( They have it still this weekend right?

Oh ya and I always get my fraps double blended... so much better!

Okay! We finally went today (a Saturday) because I don't get home until 6 and nowhere else near has a Starbucks.

I got the vanilla bean creme kind, and it's amazing. It tastes so naturally vanilla, not like fake vanilla. It's kind of a simple flavor, but spectacular. It's a little bit too sweet, though.

Z got the java chip, and we both thought it was absolutely amazing. I remember getting java chip all the time when I was omni. I even named a chicken "Java Chip No Whip" because that was my fav (her breed name is Java).

quick question: I feel like I remember the chocolate syrup having dairy in it--but the java chip is vegan, right? Can someone help clear this up?

The mocha syrup at starbucks is made with hot water and a powdered mix. the mix contains cocoa, vanillin, salt, and i think a few preservatives/stabilizers. The mocha syrup is the chocolate flavoring in everything chocolated-flavored (mochas, hot chocolate, mocha frap, java chip frap, double chocolate chip frap). It's also used to decorate the top of some drinks, usually mocha/java fraps and hot chocolate.

Okay, thanks. This makes me feel much better. There's a local coffee shop that uses the Ghirardelli syrup, and that has milk in it (or another premade syrup that has milk), so I've become quite paranoid about mochas.

ETA: I told Z this, and he thought that he asked at Starbucks before and they said there was dairy in the syrup. He might be confused. He said next time he goes in he's going to ask to see the mix and read the ingredients, just to be 110% sure.

Oh and FB: Thank you for the frap list you posted back on page 7... I printed it out so I don't have a brain fart when I finally get my but down to Starbucks!

yeah, they should have a couple extra bags of the powder base. it's also the same powder they have at the napkin/etc station as "chocolate powder," though that comes in a different container (canister)... in case they don't have any more bags that you can look at, you can ask to check that.

there's definitely dairy in the caramel sauce, which is pre-made. In fact, the other pre-made sauces all contain dairy as well (white chocolate, pumpkin spice when it's in season).

Maybe what they were referring to was the specialty hot chocolate that they had (still have?). They started having that right after I left, so I never saw myself what wasn't vegan, but my co-workers said that the "specialty" ones were made differently (not just mocha sauce + vanilla + milk like the 'classic' hot chocolate), and whatever base they used for that contained dairy.
Or, it could have been the chocolate banana vivanno. Same (vegan) mocha syrup, but those drinks are made with whey protein powder (though they can be made without, but they're kind of not supposed to do that, sort of).

Yeah. The mocha syrup is vegan for sure. Boy read the ingredients for me.
He triple checks to make sure the things I get are vegan.

What do I say when ordering a soy frap?

"I'd like a grande java chip soy frap" or something else?

Hazelnut mocha (slightly)> Cinnamon dolce> Caramel > Java chip > Mocha (slightly) > Strawberries and creme

Cinnamon dolce is good! The first drink was really cinnamon-y (and I liked it), but then I guess I got used to it, and there was a cinnamon flavor every once and a while. It is very similar to the caramel, plus cinnamon. I don't like artificial cinnamon flavor (like toothpaste, gum), but this is just strong cinnamon flavor. It's pretty sweet.

It was fun while it lasted!

eta: hh, I'd say "I'd like a grande java chip soy frappucino double blended, with no whipped cream." (I know there's supposed to be an order to it, but whatever)

it's cool as long as the size goes first. sometimes people would give me their "non fat no foam 3.5 pumps vanilla 1.5 pumps caramel half decaf upside-down latte" with no size, and I'd have no where to write their order down!

most likely they'll ask about the whip anyway, but like anyone else who works/has worked at starbucks, i don't trust other people with my drink order 8)

I like saying soy java chip no whip. Because it rhymesss.
They know its a grande because its me and I have a reusable cup thing though.
