Vegan Boots & Shoes

I always have the WORST time finding professional, good-looking dress shoes that are vegan.  So does my husband.  This week we both found shoes we are very happy with.

My husband's shoe is the JUSTIN, available at Mooshoes.com. It comes in brown and black.

My shoe is the "WOMEN'S CHOICE" by LifeStride, available at shoes.com.  It comes in dark brown, light brown, and black.

At shoes.com, you can type in "vegetarian" in the search area and get their non-leather shoes.  At zappos.com, they have a vegetarian shoes link on the right side of the screen.

Hope someone finds this helpful!

i'm just not comfortable buying running shoes online. i want to try them on.

I agree, it's just so hard to find exactly what I want in a store (and the nearest shoe store is now an hour away from me), and then there's the whole "trusting sales people" thing that's hard to get over.

But if you do HAVE to buy shoes on the line, zappos is better than most because they offer free shipping both ways...in case the size isn't right

Actually, I think most running shoes are vegan.  Running shoes should be lightweight which is why most aren't leather.  Leather is a lot heavier.  Personally, I have Brooks Adrenalines.  The last ones I bought were from www.shoebuy.com (also offers free shipping, free return shipping, and no tax!).  For those that don't like buying shoes online, what I did was go to a running store and try on several pairs.  If you don't have a lot of experience with running shoes, I highly recommend this.  It's important to get the correct type of shoe for your foot (arch, support, etc).  I found a pair I liked and then went home and ordered online.  At the time, my shoes were on sale at Shoebuy, plus I used an online coupon code.

Asics are awesome- I just got my first pair of actual running shoes! Yay!

Do y'all have the store Dick Pond's?  They fit you for shoes and are so knowledgeable.

I have a pair of inov-8 running shoes.  I like them.  I have made the concession to buy vegan adhesive when possible, but settle for non-leather if that's the only option I can find.

Inov-8's website doesn't describe the materials, so I emailed the manufacter before I posted here about them.  I pasted in the response.  The part about the boots is kind of funny.  They used to use leather accents on the boots, but they might have changed that to nubuck.    :o

"All of our shoes are made with synthetic mesh upper, no leather.

The Boots (Roclite 390 and Roclite 370) were initially designed with
leather accents in the ankle area but I believe were changed over to be
nubuck, but I cannot claim that for certain unless I check with the
designers in the UK."

Vegan shoes come up a lot, so I'm combining them here for future reference.  If anyone remembers any others, add 'em.

Well bless her little cotton socks!  Natalie Portman has announced that she is releasing a line of vegan shoes in conjunctuion with Te Casan.

I was waiting for something like this to happen!  Not necessarily her, but someone with the time, money and effort to design NICE shoes that are cruelty free.  Well...hopefully they're nice.

Like I needed another reason to love Natalie Portman! I also hope these shoes are affordable, because if so I'll definitely grab a pair when needed (or just wanted). ;D

That's neat!  Although when I heard this I got all excited by the idea that Natalie Portman had gone vegan.  Nope.  She just likes cruelty-free clothes.  Which is good too, but...meh... ???

Anyway I can't wait to see what they all look like!  Pretty neat  ;D

She is veggie.  Yay to her for doing such a cool thing.
I bet they cost like, hundreds of dollars though. :(

Excitement!!!!
I love the Natalie Portman, and I sometimes wear shoes!

I'll start saving my pennies now, because those cruelty free footsiewears often do cost a little more than your first born.  They should start making shoes out of infants....

I've gotta wonder just how "cruelty-free" these shoes will be.  Will the manufacturers be paid a living wage?  have fair working conditions and hours?  or will it be more of a sweatshop operation, like the majority of shoe companies?

I've only just checked te casan's site, and I keep reading about their "vision" involving interaction between different cultures and countries...doesn't say WHAT kind of interaction that is, though...

Typically, things that are made by a famous person and also have a percentage of the purchase going to a fund of some sort cost a little more than the average product.
I think infant shoes sound like a fascinating idea... oh Fee.... whatever will I do with you?

How 'bout out of aborted embryos and fetuses?  You know who'd help supply the shoemakers?

Were there pictures of her shoe line on that website?....Or was I just totally blind and didn't see them.  I expected to see some since the pre-order date was 1/15.

I just saw a hot picture of her in red pumps.  I think it's all a tease.
