Vegan Breads?

I just transitioned to vegan and was wondering what every-day bread brands (like Wonder Bread or Oroweat etc) are vegan? Thanks!

oroweat is vegan!!! unless you see blatantly obvious non vegan ingredients like milk or whey, honey, etc (i contacted the company)... i love their potato and italian breads! don;t know about wonder bread though

Also check for Ezekial and Rudi's breads.

I've occasionally gotten the Oroweat rye and pumpernickel, but haven't found any others that don't have milk or honey.

I think I've seen the potato, but thought it had something in it? I might look again.

If you have a Kroger around you, their cheap white bread is vegan (it's even marked on the bag). It usually runs 88 cents or a dollar.

I don't think I've ever seen Oroweat before. Does it contain HFCS?

I saw the thread title and went "ooh! I wonder if anyone else knows about Oroweat."

Most of their varieties are vegetarian, but only a handful are vegan as almost all varieties contain honey.

I think all (or at least most) Silver Hills and Dave's Killer Bread are vegan... but these brands are not available everywhere so check their websites. I personally like Dave's better for toast and Silver Hills for sandwiches.

If you cannot find these brands some Oroweat is fine. I havent really had much luck with most brands that are not all "flax! hemp! look our bread is sooo healthy" types.

Bakeries are a good place to check if you have any near by. A lot of fresh baked bread is vegan (usually just flour, water, oil, salt, sugar, and yeast).

YES! Thank you! I'm so glad this thread was made, now I'm going to look for this next time I'm at the store.

Wow thanks all y'all!!! Super helpful!!! I also noticed that Orowheat Sandwich Thins (all varieties except Honey Wheat) are vegan as well.

I am glad to hear that.  I have been eyeing them for a while but was not sure if they were vegan.  Thank you! :)

Yeah. I got some today. It's the one in the white bag, and it's labelled vegan in the bottom left corner. I got it for 75 cents.

I looked again, and didn't see any other vegan Oroweat. I guess our store doesn't carry those. I think they only had the different kinds of wheat, 12 grain, 9 grain, buttermilk, and some others.
