Hemp Milk
Anybody know the best price for hemp milk? It is the only stuff my son will drink, besides my milk, and that is pretty much dried up now since he refuses to nurse all the time but about once every three days or so. I have the impression that when he does nurse he hardly gets anything out so I think my milk is pretty much gone :'(.
Since he is 12 mo old I won't give him formula. I have tried all kinds of milk, whole cows milk and rice milks are his most hated. He despises both of those! He will tolerate soymilk. But his by far preferred is hemp milk, which is fine by me because I think it is the most healthy of all of them, problem is, it is also the most expensive! It is $4.49 per carton at my local health food store and he goes through 2 cartons a week. I looked online and found that it was actually more expensive! My health food store must not be making much of a profit on it. So anybody have any suggestions to save money on hempmilk? I am afraid to try a different brand (he drinks "tempt" brand in the red carton, original flavor). Any suggestions?

I love that Coconut Milk beverage by So Delicious! It's...so delicious. ;)
The unsweetened is only 50 calories (I love it for coffee creamer), but all the calories come from fat. It's 5 grams of fat per serving, and all 5 grams are saturated. I know coconut fat is different/healthier than animal-based saturated fat, but I'm just passing that on. Each 8 oz. serving has only 1 gram of protein.
oh, thats the same amount of protein as rice milk then, the fat content is probably good for little babies and toddlers though. I haven't tried it yet, but I LOOOVVEE So Delicious coconut milk yogurt-vanilla flavor, even though its like $1 million/ container, its good!!!
don't hate me but my cheapo HFS sells cases of 12 for $2.99.
I also just bought 2 large containers of that yogurt (quarts?) for .50 each!
i need to eat it up because its about to expire!

What is the name of this coop? I drive through Asheville a couple times a year to visit my mother. I usually stock up at the Earth Fare where she lives, but your coop sounds better.

Thanks. I will have to check it out when I pass through. My local HFS's prices are crazy. Usually I stock up at Earth Fare in Columbia, but this looks better. I just hope it won't be too hot, because I'll probably have the bunny with us.
The most cost effective hemp milk for me thus far is to buy a bucket of sterilized hemp seeds from Canada (http://www.hempseed.ca/hemp-seed.ihtml seems to have the best stuff) and than running it though a Soyquick soymilk maker with the heating element turned off.
Trader Joes just came out with a Hemp milk...If you live where there are Trader Joes...Everything there is a great price!

I just noticed that my TJ's started carrying hemp milk! I haven't tried it yet, but the price was great.
I saw that to, yesterday...I am always a little wary of hemp milk, there is an aftertaste to some kinds, so I didn't try it yet. Would love to hear if it has that aftertaste.
