Mount Shunnimunk
Went to the mountains this weekend for a visit. Want to see some pictures? It was a glorious weekend, did lots of hiking, lots of geocaching, and I am so sore today! THIS is the NY I know and love. It is amazing how few people realize that NY state is so much more then the stupid city! Sorry, I hate NYC, but love upsate. This is Mount Shunnimunk (?sp) in the Hudson River Valley. Great fun, lots of Vitamin D!
I parked the car at 300 ft of elevation, hiked 4 miles to the summit at 1660ft. Wow, what a climb. If I hadn't of been carrying my baby boy, it wouldn't have been so bad, but he made that trek up to the summit quite exausting. I think I drank 3 liters of water, it is a good thing the spring water up there was clean, I didn't bring enough and must have drank two liters of fresh mountain spring water. It was a risk, but it worked out, I am okay, no giardia (?sp). Great fun.
Middle of next month I have a camping trip to WV planned. This summer is going to be so much fun. I am planning a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine either May or June, haven't decided yet. I can't wait! Mikey and I will probably be in the Hudson River Valley and the Catskills a lot this summer. Beautiful beautiful beautiful! ;)b
