My daughter's 5th Birthday Party

Hi everyone! I just have a question for you. In about a month my daughter is turning 5 years old and wants to have a Nightmare Before Christmas Birthday Party. What type of vegan foods should I serve for the party? Should I do some Halloween type foods and then some Christmas type foods. For the party since Nightmare Before Christmas Decorations are no longer available should  I  go to a party store to get both Halloween and Christmas decorations. That's why I was wondering should I do the same for food? Any other ideas, food suggestions, so on for the party? Let me know what you think. I would greatly appreciate your comments and time. Thank you and have a lovely day!!

My daughter, 19, is a big fan of the movie.  I will ask her for ideas in the morning/afternoon.

I talked with DD.  She suggests decorating with Halloween colors, purple, green, black and white in things that are traditionally Christmas decorations, lights, ornaments, etc.  Also, check out Hot Topic for ideas although most likely anything they have will be more expensive than what you want to spend for a kid party.

As for food, think Chrismas party, cookies, treats, etc for ideas and then give then a Halloween twist.  I would look at the Halloween recipes on BettyCrocker.com, not for the recipes but for ideas on how to decorate cupcakes, cookies and other things and then look for vegan recipe equivalents for the base food.

I would be happy to bat around ideas with you if you want.

Check E-bay!! I just browsed and they have party invitations, hats, cake toppers, balloons, favors etc! I would serve more Halloween themed food...this is one of my all-time favorite movies, I think I'm going to have to watch it now! Maybe a cake or cupcakes resembling dirt, with fake worms, etc. The Kraft website also has great ideas for theme parties.  ;)b

KikisMama thanks for letting me know about E-bay. I've actually never searched or used E-bay before. Later tonight I am going to check it out.
There was a recipe for a witches brew when I was a child. It was made of pudding, oreos, and gummy worms. That would be neat to make vegan. Today I ordered a new ice cream machine and maybe make the witches brew with ice cream instead of pudding. Yes, semiveg I would love bat ideas around with you. Now I did find a seven piece Nightmare Before Christmas set on Amazon.com and decorate the table with them. Maybe making black and white snowflakes out of paper to hang on the ceiling in the dinning room. Have either one of you seen the Corpse Bride? Would that be a good movie to get her since she likes NBC? I like NBC but never got the chance to watch Corpse Bride. Thanks for the ideas so far!

I did not think about ebay.  :(  It can be a great source for things.  Just watch out that you don't get sucked into the bidding and pay more than you should.

The Corps Bride is intended for a slightly older audience.  It has has the newer Disney feel.  Honestly, I am not sure.  It could go either way.  You may want to get it from Netflix if you have that or some other movie source to preview before buying.  The snowflakes sound great.

Found this website with DIY Craft ideas since stuff on E-bay was pricy. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=tags;sa=showtopics;tag=nightmare_before_christmas

I just did a Tangled theme for my 5 year old's birthday party. I served the following goodies:

bean dip
raw veggies - broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery
raisins
grapes
strawberries
blueberries
pretzels & crackers
vegan cake

All of the omni mothers were shocked to see their kids eating so much fruit & veg apparently.
