A Very Fussy Two Year Old!

Help please!

I have a very picky two year old vegan. He started out great, eating everything. He got very, very sick with gastrointeritis about a year ago and then had another bout when he started kindy back in March. He was on the white diet for a few weeks at Doctors suggestion and since then it's been difficult to get anything into him that's not a whiter shade of pale. It's driving me a bit mental because I don't want eating to become a big issue with him, but he is SUPER stubborn and would rather starve than eat colourful food.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

no specific help here other than to keep offering him the chance to try what you are eating. It has been shown that if you eat something and then get sick, your body tends to reject that food even if it was not really the cause and you know it. So, he may not be trying to be difficult for you. Kids will not starve themselves. They are more resiliant than we think when it comes to skipping food. Good luck. Been there with picky eaters and they all made it to adulthood.

I am having a similar problem with my 3 year old. He will NOT eat beans. I want to convert to vegetarian....veganism eventually, but the only vegan protein he will eat is tofu, and Boca vegan chicken nuggets (which are $$$). That is what I am doing, I just keep offering them to him, time and time and time again, and time and time and time again I get "I don't like it" and he refuses to eat them.

I am thinking of starting to puree beans into spaghetti sauces, maybe that is something you can do with your son, puree cooked veggies into his super bland stuff?

my 2 and 3.5 year olds offten refuse their foods. All they want is berries. Strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and so on. They eat their broccoli usually too, but wont touch anything elts. I know that sounds crazy of me to complain about, but I'm always afraid of them going hungry because they don't eat most of their meal. In the end if its dinner (for example) I tell them "This is your dinner, if you don't eat it then your belly will be hungry when your in bed. You don't get any more food until the sun is up." then I ask "So do you want your belly to be hungry tonight?" and usually they say "no" and eat at least a little. Once they are tucked in bed if they start crying about being hungry and remind them that they made a choice to let there bellies be hungry and I tell them that next time they need to eat their food so they don't feel like this again. Children are so picky :(

If I can puree veggies into a red sauce and serve it with pasta, he'll eat them; as long as the sauce is red and not orange or pink. I have also stared making little pies in my muffin tin and as long as he can't see anything other than beans or sauce, he eats them up. His kindy has a similar problem and are always asking me for ideas. He's started eating dried and dehydrated fruits and will drink anything in a juice as long as it's not green. So I'm considering investing in a dehydrater and a juicer.

Thanks for the suggestions:)

Hi all,  I actually came looking for this site because of this exact issue.  On top of the picki-ness, she's 19 mo old, Celiacs, soy and milk intolerant, and will go hungry for days if I don't break down and let her eat eggs and cheese 24/7.  She's having digestive issues, constipated and impacted, so that isn't an option, and the only thing she'll eat about 50% of the time is watermelon, grapes, and peachs.  I'm at my whits end.

Any suggestions and recipes will be gladly accepted!  Thanks!

Can anyone help me find a vegan recipe website for toddlers? My toddler wants to drink formula only.
