Superstar VegWebber of the Week: Charbot Kimzoid!

Our first male VegWebber of the Week! Wahoo! Charbot Kimzoid was nominated by several different people and is definitely a superstar standout in the community. His hilarious posts always liven up the boards and I have to say, he chose two of my favorite recipes on the site for his favorite romantic recipes so I'm a fan! Also, I think I will make both tonight! Check out his profile here: http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=84787 and then tell him how awesome rad he is. Yay, CK!

VegWebber since?  I registered in February 2008, but I have been using the site for recipes since...I don't know, maybe 2005 or 2006.

Vegetarian, Vegan or ??  I'm vegetarian, but working towards vegan.

Where do you call home?  I'm a real nowhere man...not really, I live near the north Georgia mountains in Jasper with my fiance, Katie.

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb?  Sometimes I yell and write lyrics in a band, I play video games when my tv is working, I look at old things and think of them in new ways, I LOVE to cook, I like to read, I started going to the gym again, I'm currently learning how to play the keyboard and will be learning how to play many more instruments in the near future for a project I want to do, and I also try to find ways to make people laugh.

Do you have a blog or website?
Personal:  www.facebook.com/charlie.kimsey and www.myspace.com/strength_inside_singer
The bands (past and present): www.myspace.com/strengthinside and www.myspace.com/terranigmaband

Do you tweet?  Negative.  Honestly, I would probably be the most boring person to follow on twitter.  That, or I'd be the most interesting because I would make stuff up.  But you'll never know either way because I'm either too cool or not cool enough to post on twitter, it's one or the other.

One unique thing people should know about you?  My eyes change color (green, brown, and grayish) with my mood and I can play music by ear.  I learned how to play the theme music to the Terminator movies on the recorder (the instrument) when I was in elementary school.

What’s the best thing about being veg*n?  There are so many things that it's hard to pick just one!  But I think the best thing is knowing that I haven't taken a life in order to sustain mine.

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb?  The vegan fried chick'n and the maple and brown sugar pumpkin casserole.  The chick'n was the first thing that I made for Katie and the pumpkin casserole was the first thing Katie made for me.

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be?  I honestly don't really have a favorite, all of the stuff that I've made has been a hit with omnis.

Favorite Holiday VegWeb recipe? Probably the green bean casserole, it was really good but I need to put more green beans in it next time!  The Thanksgiving "meatloaf" was good, but it burned a little because I didn't have a meatloaf pan.

Best/Funniest/Most delicious/Most disasterous experience you've had making a recipe on VegWeb?  Strangely, I haven't really had any disasters since I almost killed my friend with the spicy level of some porkchops or burned the garlic and forgot to peel the shrimp for some scampi.  The best thing that's happened with a vegweb recipe was when I had my family up a few weeks ago.  I introduced my family to Indian food recently, and I decided that I wanted to have them up for a night of Cranium and some delicious curries.  I made chana masala and butter chick'n from this site, and made vegandad's aloo palak.  It was a huge success, and my stepdad kept saying throughout the night that he couldn't believe how authentic everything tasted and how delicious it was.  And no, there were no leftovers.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet?  I don't really "miss" anything per se, but I do wish I could make a delicious tasting vegan Alice Springs chicken from Outback.  I tried to make that recently with some seitan, nooch sauce, fakin', and some agave mustard, but it just didn't turn out very well.

#1 Cooking secret/tip?  Don't be afraid to take risks.  If you think it's going to taste good, then it probably will (most of the time).

Best music to cook by?  Hardcore / punk, of course!  How can you not cook delicious vegan food without listening to Earth Crisis?!  But I usually end up listening to the oldies station because our radio in the kitchen doesn't have a cd player and most of today's music sucks.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with?  This is a tough one.  I'd really like to have dinner with my dad one last time to tell him that I love him, I'm sorry I didn't call him that night, and to show him that you don't need a steak to have a delicious dinner (my dad loved to grill).  Other than that, John Lennon and Leonardo da Vinci would be a lot of fun to eat dinner with.

All time favorite restaurant?  I'm going to have to say Chinese Buddha in Atlanta, but I've had a lot of awesome food from many different places.

French fries or ice cream?  Probably french fries, especially garlic fries or chili cheeze fries.  But I do love my ice cream, too.  Let's just say fries.  So, fries it is.

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? Rice milk, then almond milk, then soy.  In that order.

Tempeh, tofu or seitan?  I've only had tempeh once, and I thought it tasted...sour.  I haven't had it since.  I love tofu scrambles.

Katie is actually a man, I just failed to mention that.  I kid, of course.  Leave it to you to find the spelling error, although I will say that I didn't know that there are two different ways to spell it depending on if it's a guy or a lady.  You learn something new everyday, right?

I didn't know it either, until one day, and then I did know. It's really silly, actually! It mainly just reminds me of the FIANCE (stranded) episode of Seinfeld.

For the record, I plan on making french fry ice cream when we get an ice cream maker.  I'm crazy enough to do it.

I love that episode, and I do believe that it is Katie's very favorite episode.

Seriously.  Just be careful because it can go one of two ways: you will cook faster and harder than you ever have before, or you will hurt your hand from punching the fridge.
