Superstar VegWebber of the Week: Quintess!

This week's Superstar VegWebber is someone I know we all wish would move in with us (she can bring her adorable sounding daughter too!) and cook every night. Maybe not so much a dream for her but you know? Sacrifices. Of course I'm talking about Quintess (http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=69134), our cookbook maven and recipe goddess. Looking at the list of things she does when not on VegWeb, I seriously wonder how she has time to be on VegWeb! But nevermind, we are all the so lucky (and filled with delicious food!) because of it. Check out her excellent answers below and then let her know how wonderful she is and how we're all so excited she's here with us and to please never leave (or take away her recipes!).

VegWebber since? A few years now...

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? Vegan since 1991

Where do you call home? Pagosa Springs, Colorado

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? Play dominos with my daughter, organize & shoot cooking videos, blog, do yoga, meditate, mail books, exercise, and eat damn good vegan food.

Do you have blog or website? Both. My website is www.RadiantHealth-InnerWealth.com and my blog is www.RHIW.blogspot.com

Do you tweet? Oh yeah. Oooohhhh yeah.

One unique thing we should know about you? I’m a “leap and the net will appear” kind of person. I once went to Hawaii with only $40 and nowhere to stay.

What’s the best thing about being vegan? I really only like it for the amazing health benefits, clear conscience, spiritual benefits, superior-tasting food, and lower impact on the earth. Otherwise, I could take it or leave it.  Wink

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Uh, romance?

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? Perhaps my recipe for Chocolate Decadence Cake...I have to apologize here, because I don't try too many other recipes. As a cookbook author & long-time caterer, I’m always fiddling w/ my own recipes so I rarely get a chance to try other peeps recipes. Embarrassed

Favorite VegWeb recipe for the holidays? Again, apologies here, but my recipe for Asparagus Phyllo Wraps is on vegweb & a staple for our potlucks. I get in trouble if I don't make them!

Favorite holiday song? Anything by James Taylor. Or on a Peanuts soundrack.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet?
Pork rinds. No, just kidding. I'm pretty happy and content in my little vegan kingdom.

#1 Cooking secret/tip? Always use fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible.

Best music to cook by? My daughter, singing her happy asparagus song.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? ANY three people that would actually cook for me for a change! Just kidding—I love to cook for people, it’s a joy of mine. Usually. So, I’d choose Ellen DeGeneres, my meditation teacher, and Michael Franti…just not at the same time. Three dinners.

All time favorite restaurant? Chicago Diner. Their raw vegan cheesecakes are insane. You actually have to peel off their little straight jackets before you can have a bite.

French fries or ice cream? I love baked, garlicky French fries. With lots of ketchup and hot sauce!

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? I make my own and it’s usually a combination of all three!

Tempeh, tofu or seitan? I’d like to say tempeh because it’s uber-nutritious, but I just looooove tofu. It’s so versatile and always up for new adventures.

Congrats congrats! Totally deserved, you are the vegan cooking goddess!

Congratulations, Tess! And very well-deserved for all the friendly, helpful advice you so freely share with all of us, including your wonderful recipes.

For those of you who haven't seen her cookbook, you should check it out. Besides having hundreds of tasty, creative recipes, there's a huge amount of nutritional information, tips and advice on caring for yourself. I couldn't be happier with it and one of the reasons is that it's written in the same friendly and humorous manner as Quintess's posts here on VegWeb. It's a great read.

Sorry for the commercial, but this just seemed like a good opportunity to point out one reason why Quintess is a Superstar VegWebber!
