Weekly Giveaway: Allergen-Free Baker's Handbook! hanashi is the winner!

My best friend is allergic to walnuts. I have another friend who can't touch gluten or she breaks out in hives. I have yet another friend who so much as looks at a peanut and his throat starts to close-up. Allergies range from simply annoying to seriously dangerous, and I want to bake for my friends, without the threat of seriously injuring them. That's where the beautiful new Allergen-Free Baker's Handbook (http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9781587613487) comes in. A book filled with recipes ranging from Cinnamon Rolls to Red Velvet Cake, this book is a lifesaver. Perhaps literally.

To win a copy, let me know what your favorite allergen-free dish is!

Giveaway ends on Tuesday, April 13th at midnight, PST! Winner will be chosen at random!

Good luck!

My family loves banana nut bread but my daughter is allergic to some nuts, so I bake a double batch, one with nuts and the other without.

yeeaaah, I mean, someone is allergic to everything, but for a common-allergen-free dish, I really like making a big tikka masala curry with veges, chickpeas and potatoes .

Pear is a fruit that is low-risk for allergies, so I would have to say pear sauce (it's like applesauce, but made with pears) made with lavender and/or ginger. YUM.

A huge artichoke.

That is all.
Maybe 2 or 3 of them.

I guess there's someone allergic to most foods, but this time of year, the most delicious thing to me is a big citrus-y fruit salad, with pineapple, kiwi, grapefruit, clementines, strawberries, and raspberries. Mmm.

My personal favorite is gluten free bread...I'm still trying to perfect it, but I have an aunt with Celiac's who can't touch gluten.  It's a fun challenge!

There are so many allergens in everything I don't know how to chose.

I guess something simple that I absolutely love is oatmeal.

It would have to be my recipe for soy free, nut free, bean free, corn free and gluten free Vegan Banana Bread... it is honestly the best I've had! For the record, I usually just call it Banana Bread.
